After the upgrade, cherrytree disappeared!
Tried re-installing .deb but encountered missing dependencies.
Tried installing python-gtksourceview2 but also missing dependencies.
Can we get a .deb package suitable for 20.04?
It won't work because python-gtk2 is missing there. You have to install cherrytree from snap for now, but a native C++ version is coming, it's now under testing.
That's right, in the short term see https://snapcraft.io/cherrytree and ask the packager @hellsworth to update to the latest version
Thanks for answers. But it seems to be one of those days.
Snap is having trouble downloading:
"core18" (1705) from channel "stable" (received an unexpected http response code (503) when trying to download https://canonical-lcy01.cdn.snapcraft.io/download-origin/canonical-lgw01/CSO04Jhav2yK0uz97cr0ipQRyqg0qQL6_1705.snap?token=1587762000_782f0c1655ce62825a9d68b202585ebe858dd87a&interactive=1)
Be patient everyone upgrading, the Ubuntu servers will be under a lot of stress 馃槈
@giuspen I also updated to Ubuntu 20.04 and cherrytree disappeared.
If I install the snap version, will I lose any settings, databases, etc.? Or should I wait for the new c++ version?
I'm even willing to drop back to ubuntu 19 if necessary, that's how awesome your app is! 馃槃
Hi @lonix1 you will have to copy config.cfg to the location snap is using from the current which is ~/.config/cherrytree/config.cfg
With "find / -name config.cfg" you will list both locations. If this concerns you use the flatpak. The new C++ is pretty much there and out for testing so do not rollback.
Snap: Thanks!
New version: you say it's "pretty much there"... does that mean it's a proof-of-concept or that it's "usable" for day-to-day stuff (i.e. will be released soon)? I'm willing to guinea pig the thing, I have backups of my database.
Ok let me update the Ubuntu package and I'll point you to it
@lonix1 snap cherrytree is the same code as ordinary cherrytree, but snap itself limits interaction with the system like access to a printer or a system theme. Many people have moved to ubuntu 20 since the spring, so their only option is to use snap (of flatpak) and no one complained about losing data.
whenever c++ version is available, please notify us immediately.
i'm expecting it to be flying off the shelf!
I'm going to package 0.99.1 shortly and will notify here
Ok go to https://www.giuspen.com/cherrytree/#downl and scroll down until you find 0.99.1 for Windows and Ubuntu 20.04
Amazing: that seems to work pretty much flawlessly, thank you! And as a bonus, it also seems to play nice with touchscreen scrolling.
