(Replaces short overview in https://github.com/polkadot-js/apps/issues/838)
Goal:
The democracy module should work properly with the current-generation of democracy features.
Background:
Delegation was added to democracy in https://github.com/paritytech/substrate/pull/1827 - basically this allow you to designate somebody else to perform actions on your behalf. As it stands the UI does not cater for this functionality.
Pre-requisites:
Actions:
Issue Status: 1. Open 2. Started 3. Submitted 4. Done
__This issue now has a funding of 300.0 DAI (300.0 USD @ $1.0/DAI) attached to it.__
So, basically, in here you want to have a new tab for delegation + implement the API for that, correct?

Issue Status: 1. Open 2. Started 3. Submitted 4. Done
__Workers have applied to start work__.
These users each claimed they can complete the work by 12Â months from now.
Please review their action plans below:
1) kshitij98 has applied to start work _(Funders only: approve worker | reject worker)_.
I would like to take this up. I have set up the codebase and have gone through the delegation PR.

We've removed @kshitij98 from the issue for lack of responsiveness. Hoping for other hunters to get involved here soon!
Ummm, he actually asked a question in the Polkadot Watercooler today (06:57 Berlin time), specifically around this -

Hi, I am working on the democracy app UI. I had to extend the democracy api as well for the same, but I am not able to use the locally built @polkadot-js/api in the apps project. Can anyone help me with the same?

Hey there @jacogr and @kshitij98 - on the gitcoin page is a particular block during the request section where the person who works on the bounty agrees on giving regular updates on the issue. This is so the gitcoin staff can help eject "stuck" bounties. If kshitij98 is still working on it, please ask him to reapply, and ask him to at least throw a update in here every now and then, so we avoid confusion like this in the future.
Thanks. :-)
Sorry for the confusion. I have added a WIP pull request.
@kshitij98 approved to start work! Thanks for the WIP.
Not sure if that isn't too late but I think it'd be nice to have a delegation flow such as what we plan to have for validators (see here) rather than what we currently have. Meaning that instead of showing all accounts, you only show the account that already delegates in order to have a better overview. And have a button at the top to delegate. The modal would then let you choose for what account you wish to delegate.
@Tbaut baby steps. Let’s get the delegation in as defined here then enhance as a follow up.
Yeah, first you need the functionality as basically implementable as possible, and then from there you can setup more complex systems, trying to do everything at once usually tends to cause overcomplicated and monolithic systems, so, totally agreeing with @jacogr :-)
Certainly don’t want to change bounties mid-stream, or create confusion. So exactly as specified.

@jacogr This bounty returned to Open status. I want to give this a try. Shall I work on this?
Please do, it is a hairy one, but really cool at the same time. Ask away where anything is unclear.
I have applied through gitcoin. Please approve me.

Hi @jacogr, I would be busy with something else for about a week. If this bounty is time sensitive, please inform me, I will then stop work on gitcoin. Otherwise I will be able to work on this after a week time.
@pbteja1998 are you still working on this?
@pbteja1998 if you're not able to take this up to start work within the 48 hours we'll have to remove you from this issue.

__The funding of 300.0 DAI (300.0 USD @ $1.0/DAI) attached to this issue has been cancelled by the bounty submitter__
I'd like to tackle that.
For the last point, here we will have to make changes to https://github.com/polkadot-js/api/blob/master/packages/api-derive/src/democracy/referendumVotesFor.ts to pull the delegees
a long time has passed since then, it's now in here but it's tightly related to referendum voting.
Do you think I should still use a derive for it? I was thinking of calling directly democracy.votesOf on the users accounts otherwise.
The voting does show delegations, so it is not applicable.
