In the domain picker, when you're searching for a certain domain name including the TLD such as
blogadyblogblagadoo.blog, the search results should include the domain name that we searched for. In the attached screenshot, you aren't given the option to select the .blog TLD.

On https://wordpress.com/new fill out the details until the domain picker is enabled and open it.
Search for a domain including the tld part e.g. blogadyblogblagadoo.blog

No, this appears to be a regression from current signup - if a user searches for a fully qualified domain name (FQDN), for example, example.com, we should _always_ check for the availability of this domain - that's the expectation of the user. And we need to guide the user depending on its availability, if it's mappable, transferable, etc. Happy to go into more details, but it's too much for a GitHub issue :)
Example of such a case: rata.mx is a domain I own outside WordPress.com, I've searched for it in signup and I get a message that it's taken, but it's transferable - and the option to do so:
