In order to keep these separated from the events tab, here is an issue to track the various improvements to the competition's schedule tab that could be made.
one suggestion: make the default duration for the custom activities bigger (30 min?)
Now it is just 5 minutes, and in the default view (30 min per row) it's so tiny that we can't drag the border. I had to "zoom in" to 5 minutes per row to change it.
There is no default duration for the custom activities.
The length of the custom activity is determined by the timeframe in the calendar that a user has drag and selected.
If you do a single click it considers this as selecting the smallest increment of time (which is 5 minutes).
Changing this to 30 min would mean you could only increase or decrease an activity by 30 min, which would not be convenient.
Ah, I didn't know I had to drag it. That makes sense, but I would probably not guess it. Perhaps changing the text to "click and drag ..." would help.
A few more:
1 - Make the public view a little "taller". Now it uses 30 min per row, which gets very narrow when the round lasts for 15 min for example:

2 - Make the events colors different (alternating shades of blue, or with another color). That makes it easier to tell them apart.
3 - Make 12/24 time format customisable. I think I saw something about it being related to the user's local, but I'd prefer to use 24 format. We usually don't use 1:00 for 1PM

I think this just means you need to define the time_format key for pt.yml: https://github.com/jfly/worldcubeassociation.org/blob/23e81d55d268242c50462f80bb217fd2cade9157/WcaOnRails/config/locales/en.yml#L177-L178.
I mean make it a choice of who's making the schedule, not attached to the user viewing it later.
I don't see why it would make sense for the schedule creator to force 24h vs 12h on the user. In my mind, that's like the a website creator saying "well, I'm used to English, so this website should always be in English".
I guess you're right. It's not like the user can change it too.
Not a direct schedule improvement, but quality of life with the schedules:
Would it be possible to auto link the schedule in the delegate report and result submission?
@DanielEgdal I've updated the initial message to include one of the WCAT queries (printer friendly schedule).
