Please give us a description of what happened.

I use the Divi page development theme from Elegant Themes and I have a website (https://stanleytotallivingcenter.org) that I have the Yoast SEO plug-in installed on. This week, my ability to edit the site stopped as the Divi page builder backend would not load when I would try to edit the page. I contacted Elegant Themes for help and they informed me that a plug-in was causing the page builder not to load. The provided me with a screenshot with the errors when they tried to access the site to edit it. I have attached a PNG of their screenshot.

Based on their suggestion to disable all plug-ins and then re-enable them one at a time, I have isolated the issue to the Yoast SEO plug-in. When it is off, I can edit pages on the site. When it is activated, the ability to load the Divi Page Builder goes away.

I have currently disabled the plug-in so I can edit the site, but I would love to bring it back as I find it to be a vital part of my site maintenance and SEO efforts.

Can you please take a look and see what might be going on?

Please describe what you expected to happen and why.

How can we reproduce this behavior?

  1. Use the Divi Theme
  2. Install Yoast SEO
    3.

I am just now having a similar issue, but a little different. When using yoast with Divi, I cant edit page names on the yoast portion (the "edit snippet" part) it won't type "s" "S" "o" or "O" ... It bring up the split tracking or saves the page. I uninstalled the keyboard driver and restarted and it worked fine, then on the title line still did the same thing. No clue.

Edit: S H O P are the letters . So it won't allow me to write Shop in the title.. kinda irritating. Lol

Thank you for reporting this issue. Unfortunately we are not able to reproduce this issue with the latest Divi theme and Yoast SEO. Therefore I've contacted the developers of Divi and requested their help in reproducing this issue. As soon as I know more, I will update you.

Thanks again and thank you for your patience.

Thanks for your patience. I've had contact with Elegant Themes (the creators of Divi) and neither we nor they can reproduce your issue on the latest version of Yoast SEO, Divi theme and WordPress. Additionally, you can try a different browser to see if that solves your problem. There might be a browser extension installed that might cause this issue.

I have having this same issue on my business site. All other sites are not experiencing it - I am viewing in the same browser. I have reached out to ET support to see if they can offer assistance on this issue.

I've been having the exact same problem when updating Yoast to version 7.6, has anybody found a fix for this yet?

I have also been having this issue for some time now... I just turn Yoast off while I make changes. Quite annoying though and given Yoast and Divi are such big players I would think this shouldn't be an issue...

when i try to edit SEO Title in Yoast the divi short key activates popping up different options preventing me to edit that title. :(

Same issue with one of my websites. Just installed the most recent versions of each plugin with the Divi builder disappearing when I activate Yoast.

Exact same issue, i.e., not able to be in the backend of a page using Divi builder... WP pages backend OK... On two sites... Besides all the time it took to discover it is Yoast, I've also spent a bunch of time to see if there is another plugin also involved... What I find is that in some circumstances it will just sometimes be OK for a little while, with a few different collections of plugins activated along with Yoast, but then the issue quickly appears again... Different plugins at different times along with Yoast and pretty quickly if not right away the backend Divi Builder doesn't load... Something can happen and the issue can seem to go away for a bit, but then soon back... It is just so crazy that it will go away for a tiny bit, but then nope, that wasn't it either... Another thing that seems to be is that with ONLY Yoast activated it can seem to be OK... But there is no work that can be done with that the case...

All that to try to emphasize, when Yoast is deactivated the issue is GONE and doesn't come back UNTIL Yoast is re-activated... And then it comes back, every time, invariably...

This really needs to be addressed with some engagement between Elegant Themes and Yoast...

Yes, can deactivate to make changes in a site, but there is no way at all to do any SEO work on individual pages with Yoast, with this going on...

I am also experiencing this issue when trying to edit the SEO title for a page, the Divi keyboard shortcuts are active and prevent you from being able to type certain letters.

this is happening to me as well - I just gave Divi a piece of my mind. It seems they have made some keyboard shortcuts out of one key...for example "o" opens a dialog for their new split test feature. The result is typing "o" into Yoast's form in the WP dashboard opens the dialog. I am not seeing the same problem in sites with Yoast's premium offer. However, I don't think our other sites have auto-updating configured...can anyone guess why we would do that?

i can't type the letters 'o' or 'p' within Yoast, or else the dumb Divi modal popup box shows up. WTF

Same here, every time I try to edit a page description damned modals popping up all over the place. I can't even cut & paste a page description into the Yoast snippet box. It's been going on for weeks ... Divi, do something ?????

SOLVED, it's been sorted out, all it needs is a Divi theme update ...

I have same issues and DIVI update did not help.

It works when I turn off readability analysis in yoast ... but I would like to use that feature ...

Any other solutions?

This issue unfortunately is still occurring ... latest yoast, wp 4.9.8, divi 3.7.1

... any solutions?

All you need to do is change your server php version to 7.0 or older ... I had same problems with php 7.1 when I changed it to 7.0 everything started to work properly.

The same problem occures with some other themes .. not only DIVI

Running the site on PHP7.0 and still seeing the same issue

I updated to latest divi and problem went away...

No Divi or Yoast updates solved this for me. ET say they can't reproduce it when logged in to my site. When using the visual editor, I get this pop-up, and when trying to change theme options, it will not save.

To solve problem with Divi's shortcuts and popups u just have to Deactivate Yoast SEO PREMIUM, and use simple Yoast.
That's Yoasts problem - not Divis.

I fixed the problem by changing my PHP and other settings as close to the recommended ones as possible. Solved!

Wordpress v.5.0.3, Yoast Premium v.9.5, Divi v.3.19.8. Cannot edit pages or posts. Blank screen pops up saying, "Unauthorized access. Preview cannot be accessed outside ..." Happens with Yoast plugin enabled. Started happening with my website about 3 Divi template updates ago. Divi telling me to basically change out the plugin. Not sure if it is a Yoast or Divi issue at this point.

Anyone else experiencing? Anyone have a solution? Besides turning off or changing my Yoast plugin.

WordPress v5.2.2, Yoast SEO v11.9, Divi theme v3.27.. Having very similar issues - have to disable Yoast to edit a post then re-enable it afterwards otherwise the Divi builder interface doesn't load and there's loads of errors in the JS console.

Update: I was able to isolate that a chat script on our website causing the issue with Yoast and Divi.

Hola chicos, tengo un problema con el yoast SEO y el divi, no me deja editar las paginas... se recargan a cada rato

I am having the same issue. I have the newest WP, DIVI theme and Yoast installed. Yet when YOAST is activated, I cannot save pages in the Divi Page Builder!
