I'd like to avoid the above HTTP requests when the Yoast dashboard widget is disabled (unchecked)

Thank you, seems like a valid suggestion to me. I'm not sure if this is something that will get picked up soon but I will keep the issue open.

The HTTP requests may be detected as a potential tracker and privacy scanners will warn about them.
