When I open the wire app it takes 5 to 15 seconds that it shows my list of chats.
The opening of the app is between 5 and 15 seconds on a iphone 5s with iOS 10. But some people I know have newer iPhones (6 or newer) and the boot up is between 5 and 10 seconds. Thats not very fast.
I suspect from a chat app it wil load under 5 seconds on devices like the iPhone 5s and much faster on newer ones. And when I already have booted the app in the background the app should open nearly instantly.
I've the latest iOS version of the Wire app and the latest version of iOS 10.

We will verify, confirm and prioritize the issue you reported.
Okay, thanks!
Hello @KoalaBoomka,
Is there already any information about the progress on the bug?
Thanks!
Hello, @mat1th!
Thanks for following up the issue.
We will post here as we have any update on the progress.
This is right. Browsing (entering) a new conversation is very slow.
@KoalaBoomka It's now a couple of months ago I've submitted this issue. You have introduced nice features but not solved my issue. Is there already any progress on this bug? The issue is annoying me and other people who are using the app. :( (on the iPhone 4s it's around 25 seconds before the app starts! )
Improving the overall performance of the app is work in progress. Thanks for highlighting this, but we do not have any additional information to share at this point I am afraid.
Okay, Thanks for the update.
Just out of interest, what is happening when the app is opened?
I'm not specifically an iOS developer, but I would be very interested to know what routines the app is performing during this initialisation time.
While its not something that bothers me massively (on an iPhone 6), I'm having difficulty convincing family members to stick with WIRE because of it - they keep gravitating back to Apple's messages because "it just opens quicker".
Thanks!
edit: legibility
I have to admit I experienced the same resistance that @PUncle pointed out. Number 1 reason why my friends/family aren't using Wire to talk to each other (even though they are all on it) is a perceived slowness when using the app -- especially when launching it. This is hindering a wider adoption imho, much more than any other bugs. Because instant messengers are supposed to feel instantaneous, Wire is never the first app of choice when sending a message. This issue has been open for quite a while, and although the developers are surely busy working on other important stuff, I think this should be given a higher priority.
This is an issue for my family as well. She has an iphone and it opens significantly slower than the android app.
I have to say Wire starts up fast for me on ios10 and iPhone 6s, but my friend on ios10 and iPhone 6 has to wait 8-10s for Wire to start up each time. This isn't conducive to chat and is discouraging people from using Wire. Really need a fix for this as a high priority.
We have 2018 now and the booting is still too slow.
My friends hate it and doesn't want to use it, until this is fixed.
I use a very fast Pixel 2 phone with Android Oreo. Almost the fastest in the market at the moment and it is still takes seconds to load.
@Khamelx just to clarify, in your case you mean that Wire Android app is starting faster than iOS one, or you would like to complain that the Android app is slow too?
@mikeger I'm sorry. I though i was in the thread App General. Not iOS.
My complain was the Android App, which is also very slow compare to other messengers like Signal, Whatsapp or Telegram.
