I may have gotten distracted... haha. I'll push those other assets soon! I'm also making an adobe illustrator file that has some tools from the guidelines in it.

__Work has been started__.

These users each claimed they can complete the work by 4 months, 1 week ago.
Please review their action plans below:

1) dgilliams has started work.

The concept for this website is awesome. I'm excited to finally have time to contribute.

My plan of action:
so far...

  • go through the avatar editing process
  • read the request list
  • understand what is currently available and have a few suggestions to start with

thoughts on where to start... (not committing to making all of these haha but if time provides I'd like to even more if possible)

  • more chin and neck options, slender, double, cheekbones

    • fictional heads like a skull or animal

  • eyes that have color/ depth/ direction
  • mouth shapes: add other expressive shapes
  • hair: design my own hair and common popular hair shapes
  • accessories: more glasses and maybe some exciting hats. Like a viking hat or cat ears.

my resume: www.damosdesigns.com

2) gianni-dalerta has started work.

I created a new type of accessory a mask, specifically a Jack-o-Lantern. I exported the file from illustrator as an SVG found an optimizer online. I am not that experienced with git or modern web coding. Hopefully I do this right. :)

(just wanted to experience contributing to a project on gitcoin)

3) ajayns has started work.

I've got a couple of ideas. I'll first discuss the idea and see if its a viable option and then commence work on it, first the design review then the code PR.

@writeprovidence hey again! lets see what u got

jack-o-lantern-gianni

Here is the idea. I believe i have everything set to go, but don't want to hit that commit button, as I not that experienced with git, gonna get a buddy to look over my shoulder tomorrow.

@gianni-dalerta heheh i like it.. but only if we can get it in a couple weeks before haloween!

  1. @gianni-dalerta

@owocki please take a look at the submitted work:

  • PR by @gianni-dalerta

@owocki Not sure why the work submission went twice, I only did one transaction and did not refresh the page when it was pending. :(

Dang I also just realized that to add a new accessory, I would have added it to the get_svg_templates(): objects area. ;(

@writeprovidence looks like the upload didnt work.

@gianni-dalerta thanks for letting us know.. we're upgrading web3py and should have a fix in for the double-submissions shortly after that

@writeprovidence neato -- can you submit a PR and link it here pls?

@owocki ok i will do that, just wanted you to take a view at it here before send a PR.

@writeprovidence it looks good.. i just want to make sure we get it merged soon since its only a few weeks to haloween

@owocki The following submissions would be good for payout upon submission. (I'll update them as more come in. Feel free to check the boxes upon payout :P )

@gianni-dalerta

  • [x] The Haloween mask

@Dgilliams

  • [x] The futuristic pony tail

btw guys feel free to contribute more. It's really fun building the avatars out :)

@gianni-dalerta @Dgilliams yay thanks!

word i just paid out

Hey there! Been busy, but I found this work to be super fun so back and hopefully would be contributing some assets soon :)

Any ideas on things you guys would like in the builder? Currently, I've got ideas for a Mohawk hairstyle (for the rebels) and also a helmet accessory (for motorcycle enthusiasts). Or even a wizard beard (Dumbledore inspired maybe?) Any opinions here?

@ajayns i love both ideas! there are a few more over at https://github.com/gitcoinco/web/issues/1550 too

A couple of ideas explored on the Mohawk! Let me know what you like :)

(may have chosen the wrong face to depict a cyberpunk but well, focus on the mohawk please ;) )

A tux/suit idea I've been playing around for a bit. @owocki @thelostone-mc It wasn't mentioned before, but I was thinking we don't have anything pretty formal in the builder right now and this could be a good addition.

screenshot from 2018-10-09 15-07-58

Another idea that came to me as I worked on the suit, how about a bit of hacker vibes here!

Okay that took the last of my free time, here's the cowboy hat you were asking for: (maybe I could work on the color better though)

screenshot from 2018-10-09 15-39-37

@ajayns i like the 2nd mohawk... and the guy faukes maask and the suit and the hat!.

want to PR them up!!?

here are some exxamples PRs
https://github.com/gitcoinco/web/pull/2400
https://github.com/gitcoinco/web/pull/2401

Haha you like them all? I'm glad! :)
I'll try to get this done as soon as possible and let you know. Also, thanks for the reference PRs @owocki

Also, mind if I wrap all of them up into one PR? It'd ease the review work for you guys as well.

@ajayns sounds good!

@writeprovidence those look cool! i wonder which of those elements will fit stylistically into the avatar builder. @PixelantDesign what do you think? do we need to 'gitcoin avatar style-ize' them a bit?

Working on more hair options today.
Thoughts on a category/layer for neck shapes? If they overlay the clothing, they can change the neck line.

Check out this guy's hat!

Oh no it blew away! How do we feel about making some bald guy assets too? Lol this was made by accident, but now I'm thinking some balding options wouldn't be the worst idea.

baldguy-01

i really like all of these hair styles. especially the first mohawk

not completely sure the neck thing is worth it at this point...

@Dgilliams can you attach some svgs and/or PR them up so we can see what this all looks like in the avatar builder?

thanks! and yep not a problem. is there a folder to upload test svgs? I want to make sure they work before having to export all the different color assets.

Has anyone made a script or know a shortcut for exporting the multiple color assets in one shot?

Checkout https://github.com/gitcoinco/web/pull/2400 for an example of how to add an asset to the local repository. You can copy the directory in that PR :)

I have not, but it should be easy to do ... Just open up the asset in a text editor and change the hex color of the shirt! this is what those entries look like

path fill="#25E899"

@writeprovidence I agree could we try to match your ideas closer to the 'gitcoin avatar style-ize' them a bit? My suggestion would be to use the foundations that we've already created and modify them to fit your needs.

Could we check the stroke thickness of the hat ^? @ Dgilliams

Hello@owocki how about these once?

i like them in the abstract.. well need to see how they look on the avatar builder.. maybe it'd be worth taking some of those items and adding them as a layer on top of an existing avatar?

i'm attaching the avatar style guide here: http://bits.owocki.com/9a25c298e3d9/gitcoin-avatarconstructionguide_082218.pdf

I made a powershell script for exporting all the color assets! :)
There was no way I was going to type all those color hexadecimals more than one more time haha.

Watch it in action!

https://github.com/Dgilliams/SVG_MultiColor_Exporter/issues/1

Yes a bash version would be amazing for Mac and Linux users!

@ajayns @owocki
I added a python version for Mac and Linux. lmk how it works for you.

@owocki Rad, thank you! Also just noticed the new setup on gitcoin.co with "Project Types" and "Permissions" for issues—awesome feature!

@owocki #2455 has been merged, when can I expect a payout?

PR @ #2500

@jakerockland ur my hero!

⚡️ A tip worth 35.00000 DAI (35.0 USD @ $1.0/DAI) has been granted to @jakerockland for this issue from @owocki. ⚡️

Nice work @jakerockland! Your tip has automatically been deposited in the ETH address we have on file.

Thanks @owocki 😄 Couple quick questions, is there reason for me to submit work for #2500 as I did for #2494 and also I've never been sent DAI to an Ethereum wallet before, is there a good reading resource somewhere on how to see that in my Metamask setup?

@jakerockland no need to submit work again as i've paid you with a tip!

checkout https://medium.com/hellogold/adding-tokens-to-metamask-60b2fedd5bd9 to add DAI to metamask... DAI contract addr is 0x89d24a6b4ccb1b6faa2625fe562bdd9a23260359

Awesome, thank you @owocki 👍

closing this since october is over... ping me if i owe you a payout :)

__The funding of 500.0 DAI (500.0 USD @ $1.0/DAI) attached to this issue has been approved & issued.__

November thread is up!

Is there anythign I missed on the spec. @Dgilliams should i link some of the assets you created? perhaps its worth creating something in the docs that details how to create/test a new avatar item.. i'd def tip some DAI for that.

@owocki up to you! Feel free to link any of it. I could make a video tutorial on the end to end asset creation and testing?

@Dgilliams that would be super neatt
