Even the $/USD figure are "not ok"
I find the $/USD figure useful for "tourist" users (like me) who is more used to measuring the value of a service using the USD currency -- and if you were to remove the automatic conversion, then I would need to do a manual conversion of ETH to USD. That being said, having a static figure may not be entirely useful, due to the fluctuating value of ETH/USD. The idea of using shields.io to display the live price of ETH (as proposed in this comment) might be a good compromise.

We鈥檙e actually in the process of scrubbing language and other usability items across the Gitcoin experience. I am a fan of shorter more concise messaging and think we could definitely get it down to just a few lines and be just as clear. I do think the USD amount is still valuable in this instance but could probably do without on subsequent messages.
