I've seen a bit of talk about adding more lockable rooms to areas and have had a couple requests to add private rooms to security with my redesign in progress. I would prefer not to allocate space for a room specifically for people to fuck in and adding lockable doors to pre-existing rooms would be very time consuming; however, I'd still like to have lockable areas to show that they're 'in use'.
Essentially, you're locking the door down with rod of some sort by jamming its mechanism. A baton, crowbar, cane, wrench, maglight, or other similar objects can interact with the door to jam it. Jamming takes a while, about as long as a body-swap. You can remove it by hand or by using another long metal object to leverage the door back into working order. Using a long metal object to pry it open is extremely quick compared to trying to remove it by hand while using a hand is chance based. Bumping into the jammed door would sound the locked buzzer and display a message in the log. You must have access to the door being jammed in order to jam it to prevent exploits and abuse. (Such as locking security in their department)
The alternative to the access requirement bit would be to add a boolean variable to all doors that was simply "jammable = false" and we'd just set that to true on all doors we want to be able to jam.
Weld them? Also kinda annoying as you would NOT have any kind of scene protection in "random jammed areas" so I dunno what the point would be.
Also we specifically avoided "department dorms" when mapping as we didn't want those at all.
just cut all the wires?
Now hold on they might be onto something here.
Cruddy doors in parts of maint could be rusted and vulnerable to tampering moreso than everywhere else. Said doors would only require one or two very easily obtained tools to disable from moving.
Cutting all the wires requires you to use insulated gloves, which are not so easy to find.
Being able to do it to a subclass of doors rather than all doors would be an interesting approach. Like shitty maintenance hatches that were only ever intended to be in the tunnels, rather than actual doors.
Honestly, the non-airlock basic "door" could do with some love. Not electronic, it's literally just a mechanical hatch that needs to be open and closed manually. That's exactly the sort of thing that they'd put in as a cheap bulkhead in a maintenance tunnel where only the engineering crews are expected to wander through occasionally.
That is what I was thinking, yeah. Something airtight, but still cheap junk, opened and closed manually.
Giving material doors deconstruction steps would be a good start.
You should be able to 'flip' wrenches and crowbars to turn them into improvised doors jammers or craft some manually from rods.

Durasteel doorjammer.
