There was talk about adding a new gas to show off XGM but nobody had any idea what a theoretical new gas would do.
I read this idea in the thread and I think it's decent and could be easily added.
A heavy gas that causes spontaneous EMPs in the room it floods. At low mol counts it just sparks low severity shitty EMPs, at high mol counts it makes proper high severity EMP showers.
Simple enough and kinda fun.
Possible pitfalls with this idea:
There's not currently a method for having gases react in any way that isn't fire, but I'm working on that
It's a pretty complex problem, though, so it's taking a while
There's also not currently a method for having a gas actively influence the area it's in, but that's a much easier problem to solve
Why not have it do low severity EMPs while also sparking and shooting low level lightning and shit? Flood cargonia to drain the batteries of all their toys and give them shock stun while you move as sec or whatever.
It'd be cool to have a gas that isn't blasma that can be used harmfully, but in a different way. Maybe this could be made using ghettochem/vapor salts?
It probably wouldn't be effective in plasma floods because the EMPs would shut off power and turn off the vents. Unless you use it in a canister than wew lad
Let us fill emergency oxygen tanks as fuel for essentiallly a tesla/EMP cannon. I鈥檓 all for impractical and fun weapons overdesigned weapons.
Call it Minovsky Gas and it has my :+1:
Enter the Minovsky Particle: an EMP-like, sensor-jamming, delicate-electronics wrecking Plot Device that not only renders all ranged targeting and guided missiles useless, but requires Helium-3 to produce. Consequently, humans had to go to space to get Helium-3, fight old-school, close-combat battles using systems capable of tricky microgravity maneuvering, and eventually standardize the technology to simplify maintenance.
