Description

Cluwnes can't be killed by anything but normal punches. After trying to kill a Cluwne with several items like a toolbox, none of the swings actually happened. I was on harm intant also.

You can throw things at them but yeah i noticed this a few months ago as well and just assumed it was supposed to be this way to give them a slighter longer lifespan.
