Vgstation13: amorphous mask are too damn fun for players

Created on 15 Feb 2017  路  9Comments  路  Source: vgstation-coders/vgstation13

Description of issue

  • [x] Once you find a amorphous mask you can mass produce it with mechanics for very cheap, so you will have a full library of mobs that can fuck everyones shit up easily.
  • [ ] You can use amorphous masks that turn you into item mimics and then turn back human to get the item the mimic is disquised as (this allows players to get pulse rifles, radguns, any kind of shit that mimics hide as)
  • [ ] It seems that there is no limit at all to what mobs can be used for amorphous mask, which allows some very dangerous stuff to happen (the high mummy priest has a staff of change projectile which i am very sure does not have a cooldown too, could potentionally turn all of the crew into horror form changelings)

This is very powerful if not limited in some way and could turn any kind of person into a machine of destruction, allowing them to have pulse rifles and other admin-only weaponry for the price of a handpick, some plastic and some metal and glass

Make them unscannable. For some reason regular amorphous masks cannot be scanned, but ones found through xenoarchaeology can.

After hosting a serb to test this shit.

you can turn into a harvester with this and start culting people make tomes etc

turn into xeno queen and lay eggs

Turn into borer and go into people (can lay eggs unlock powers and so on)

Fun? SHUT IT DOWN
But in all seriousness, removing the ability to be scanned by anything but traitor analysers would make it a whole lot more sensible.

This is probably the best solution. But having endless spawn only items if you find a mimic still seems weird.

Add more simple mobs to make it even more rare 馃槒

This wouldn't be a problem if we removed the mechanics job completely

@Shadowmech88

Even if you want to call #3 a feature, #2 is just too exploitable.
