Created on 9 Oct 2018  路  10Comments  路  Source: CypherpunkArmory/UserLAnd

I have a chromebook that has a intel celeron. Now that ment I could use wine and other things. So I thought well I might as well install unity on ubuntu. Would it be possible?

update:
it installed and I did startunity didn't work so I did $ unity... this worked but came up with error :( so may not be possible at this time. I will try gnome next.

I have not tried this. I use lxde regularly.

Dear MR Champion, please would you be so kind and could you try to press
some hod keys while you are using LXDE?
Do you use LXDE with VNC or with Xserver XSDL.
When I use LXDE withXserver XSDL environment does not respond on hod
keys atall. Such as ALT+F1 or ALT+F2.
If hod keys are working with VNC I will have to try to run X related
apps by using VNC server instead of Xserver XSDL.
But how to make sound work in VNC? It is not easy.
Since currently only Xserver XSDL can provide reliable Pulseaudio
support with no complex settings needed.

@JanuszChmiel How did you managed to get pulseaudio working with xsdl? I am having issues with it.

@EnderNightLord-ChromeBook Unity and Gnome are heavy desktop environments even for a pc. I managed to get gnome working with userland but animations are super slow and it freezes many times. Try xfce4 or lxde instead.

Hey stackerlon I'm using a chromebook and I have run other OS's on it... It works like normal. So on a thing like a chromebook would it work? or have you not tested on chromebooks yet?

@EnderNightLord-ChromeBook I do not understand why are you trying to use userland on a chromebook. You may try the following tutorial https://tutorials.ubuntu.com/tutorial/install-ubuntu-on-chromebook#0
Userland is not for chromebooks. It is for android devices.

You can run Android apps on Chromebooks and we are happy for anyone to use UserLAnd in that situation.

@EnderNightLord-ChromeBook ,

For each specific bug report filed on github, we ask that users please follow the reporting template so we can better assist you in debugging the issue. I have not had much time to debug graphical issues, so would you be able to download the UserLAnd app on your device, install unity and see if it runs? If not please reply to this thread following the template with as much information as possible including device information (make and model number).

I'm going to go ahead and leave this thread open for about a week, if nobody responds or runs into issues with unity then it'll be closed.

Thanks,
-Adam
