Triplea: Cannot Join the Lobby (2.0.20036)

Created on 17 Jun 2020  Â·  10Comments  Â·  Source: triplea-game/triplea

If I join with what I believe it is my account or with any username without an account (thus no password), it says "Invalid username and password combination".

Windows 10
Java Version 11.0.6

I was able to join the 2.0 lobby with the latest prerelease no more than a few weeks ago, if I recall correctly.

This is fixed now.

Anon was broken because we moved hashing to client-side and were hashing an empty password. That resulted in sending a non-empty password to the server. Fixed in: https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/commit/a84c5209108978fd28d9ba278ab23f2ac3d77768

Standard login with a password was not working because the server version was not updated and we were running old code, fixed in: https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/commit/45ffa044f069d65e74fad4339e521a39867454ad

Weren't all these accounts (2.0 lobby pre-release) nuked in the transition?

@tvleavitt , they were migrated.

Are you sure?

@panther2 yes, see: https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/pull/6700/files

Perhaps easiest to view the full file: https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/blob/0e6aecc5f1f61bb0a84438272322a8a6943ec2f0/servers.yml

With that update any version under "2.0.20026" would go to the preceding configuration lower in the file, ie: the 2.0.0 config which goes to prerelease. That config file controls which server a given client will connect to. The client game will find a version that is equal to the current version or the one that is the greatest least compared to the current version.

Are you using the very latest version?

Some days ago with an at that time current prerelease, I logged in successfully.

Now I get this with 20005:
lobby

Now updating to 20036...

With 20036, as @Cernelius , I get this:

I can definitely confirm that I used the same Username/Password-combination that has already worked with the new Lobby some days ago - also @prastle had already assigned the MOD-status to me.

If the question is meant to be "Did you download what was the latest version available shortly before testing?" (if I'm wording it correctly), the answer is yes.

The TripleA version I used is 2.0.20036, which was the latest version at the time I downloaded, which was shortly before I made this ticket.

Do you want me to try to isolate the earliest version for which this problem appears to exist (that would take some time, so I'd do it only if it is very helpful)?

With earlier versions than 20036 you'll be connecting to the prerelease
lobby.

lobby.

Are you sure?

I was reporting in the context of those (your) statements (10 days ago).

@DanVanAtta
I can confirm I was unable to login with the saved password as well as anon. The password reset function appears to work and the temp password is received but fails to function as well. Using 2.0.20047

Interestingly the password reset function failed to reset my password for 2.0.18907 and my current password works there. As well as in 2.0.19904.

This is fixed now.

@DanVanAtta Interesting, thanks. The postings I referred to above to me implied that that change had been completed already at that time. I see clearer now.
