Tiddlywiki5: Hide dates on tw.com

Created on 26 Apr 2018  路  5Comments  路  Source: Jermolene/TiddlyWiki5

On tiddlywiki.com, what docs-reader cares about "27th January 2017 at 11:14pm"?

In the docs, the tiddler subtitle dates make the text seem old. Or worse; a brief visitor may even think TW at large is old or not properly updated! That is a real problem and it is totally unnecessary!

"27th January 2017 at 11:14pm" (even down to the minute!) is visual clutter on tiddlywiki.com, just like an author name would be there. Either the doc is up to date or it is not.

Hiding is a good solution because it remains available under tiddler info for the few that possibly do care about the dates, i.e devs.

I've touched this before ( #2382 ) and others also react.

May be we can change: $:/SiteSubtitle to something like this: a non-linear personal web notebook.<br>Version: <<version>> from <<version-date>>

That's the last modified date. I don't see a problem there. The "Recent" tab shows that the content is maintained. ..

I personally hate date info like: "2 days ago" as used here at github. This info is useless visual clutter.

For me personally "down to the minute" is precise enough.

Please note I'm talking about tiddlywiki.com, i.e a place where people probably go primarily for docs but also the place where first time visitors come to see if it is a project worth looking closer at (which probably includes evaluating if it is properly updated).

In my own TWs I can definitely see value in precise time stamps.

I must assume you mean the "days ago" format rather than date info per se? Here on github, I really use the dates to see "what's new".

I think the last modified date can sometimes be useful information, but perhaps we could consider making it less prominent on tw.com.

How about - on tw.com - making the modified date field hidden so it can be found in tiddler info?
