Tdesktop: 9GAG link preview not working on desktop

Steps to reproduce

1. Open 9GAG on macOS
2. Press “Share” on any post
3. Send to your contacts or yourself (Saved Messages)

(Alternatively, simply open it after somebody sent you a 9GAG link)

Expected behaviour

Rich link preview should appear

Actual behaviour

No rich link preview appears

This is not about video posts. There are also no preview for posts with an image. Nothing gets previewed on 9gag links in chats.

Okay, so I am only seeing closed linked issues and this is one is about to be automatically closed by a bot.

Is anybody working on this? It's uncharitable to just close the issue after months of inactivity. Can we get an update? It was a finely working feature that stopped working after either Telegram or 9GAG changed something.

@dimitarvp I have the same issue, but I can reproduce it on any device I tried: TG Windows desktop App, TG Web, Android app,

sometimes it shows a message that it fetches the contents briefly, but then it doesn't appear at all when you try again.

Also it seems it doesn't matter if the 9Gag link includes video or is just an image.

I think this issue has to be reported elsewhere, since it's not just TG desktop issue.

@bmxalgo I can't seem to remember if I filed a ticket for the Telegram backend -- likely not.

I would hate to see this unresolved because of bureaucracy. Can you point me at the right issue tracker? Didn't anyone fill a ticket there? This issue is months old.

I'll try in-app support as well but I fear that without an actual ticket on a code repo nothing will ever be done -- especially if the in-app support people are not techies.
