Tdesktop: Open tg link directly in Telegram Desktop

Telegram Desktop already supports clicking on and opening tg links posted in a chat. For some special cases, it would be nice if there was also a way to directly open a tg:// URL (copied from a text file, etc.) e.g. by pasting it somewhere in Telegram Desktop.

My current workaround is similar as I'm sending the link as a message to myself. This works, but it's not the perfect solution.

Make your own custom channel, send the link to the channel as a message and click on it
