Sylius: no style and js error after a new install of sylius

Created on 21 Feb 2017  Â·  13Comments  Â·  Source: Sylius/Sylius

I've followed the installation guide from https://github.com/Sylius/Sylius#installation. Sylius run by using server:run

When i go to the homepage, i get a page with no style (style are loaded in 200).
I got javascript error in this page

Uncaught TypeError: $(...).first(...).sidebar is not a function
    at HTMLDocument.<anonymous> (app.js:528)
    at i (app.js:2)
    at Object.fireWith [as resolveWith] (app.js:2)
    at Function.ready (app.js:2)
    at HTMLDocument.J (app.js:2)

I tried using the latest beta version and the dev-master version

Hi @BenoitLeveque. Are you sure you have followed ALL the steps from the installation guide? Because your assets are not installed (with gulp).
And btw - we've got docs on that: http://docs.sylius.org/en/latest/book/installation/installation.html

here is what i've done (history and console output) : https://gist.github.com/BenoitLeveque/422f344d1ccaea0f4b1d3ade090dd240

here is what i get when i open my browser

So i think you have an issue in your installation process...

I am quite sure we do not have an issue, just in the README gulp is done before sylius:install, and these two commands write to the same directories, what causes your error. At least in the docs, it is okay. Do it the way it is described in the article I've linked and you will have everything working. :)

still the same issue by following this page : http://docs.sylius.org/en/latest/book/installation/installation.html

I think the issue is related to my version of node (7.5 the latest)

I've got Node version 4.1.2, no issues. I'll update and see what happens.

This should not be closed, it happens for every Node version because of unlocked dependencies in NPM, kind of critical though :)

@pjedrzejewski that's a real issue, i can't use your project without a proper fix

@BenoitLeveque - downgrading your node should help for now. But please reopen this issue.

i can't reopen it, doesn't have the button in github :(

@BenoitLeveque can you tell if solution given in #7569 works for you?

@pamil yes, with your PR, everything work fine for me

Got the same issue following the readme.

Solved with :

yarn install
yarn run gulp

Thanks guys !

Check your node version, we had the issue with Node 8 and changed to Node 12
