Tried downloading songs using spotdl and got this:

I've tried with many songs, and none is downloading yet. I'm using Ubuntu 20.04
I believe your using spotdl from next-rel-dev that's an unstable branch.
uninstall spotDL using pip-autoremove ignore any errors that throws up. Then install spotDL from the master branch. If the error persists let us know, else, please close this issue yourself.
Also use the default shell instead of gitbash
Also use the default shell instead of gitbash
I'm not using git bash. its zsh.
I switched from zsh to bash and uninstalled spotdl using pip-autoremove spotdl and then re-installed it again using the command in the read-me pip install https://github.com/spotDL/spotify-downloader/archive/master.zip. But, it still isn't working.

i have also tried installing it after you moved the v3 to pip and it's not working. I've tried creating another user in my computer and repeated the process and it's still not working. What should I do?
Well I'm not conversant with anything but windows, I'll ask the others to look into it. Please allow us a day or 2.
@aasmpro , could you look into this when free?
@Mikhail-Zex the installation link was incorrect, pointing to next-rel-dev branch. PR
i'm going to test this.
Well, yep. I uploaded v3 to pypi. So you can use pip for the stable version
Still the same problem. I used a virtual environment to test it and it's not working. still

What have I done wrong there?
I'm new to this so sorry for being really bad at fixing issues, but virtual env's tend to cause issues with multiprocessing/ffmpeg which is why I asked you to you to uninstall it using pip-autoremove (another python package,) if you haven't done that, please try that and what version of python are you using, there are known issues with v3.5 and below and v3.9.
I'm not completely sure as to what the problem is and neither am i conversant with OS's other than windows, I'll ask around a bit and get back to you. This is a serious problem.

I installed spotdl on WSL and it works just fine.
virtual env's tend to cause issues with multiprocessing/ffmpeg
Try reinstalling spotdl with root permissions (sudo).
I'm using python 3.8 and SpotDL 2.2.2 was working fine until it didn't. and that's why I'm trying to switch. Let me try installing SpotDL 3 on a brand new Linux installation and I'll come back with the results.
I'm back with the results...

I installed spotdl 3 via pip in ubuntu 20.04 live image running python 3.8.5. It's still not downloading. What do you think is the problem guys? Are there any more tests I should do?
Not really, I guess, I'll write up a custom script to diagnose the problem. Please give me a day or two.
Should be fixed in yesterday's patch.
Uninstall with pip-autoremove
And run pip install spotdl
I installed v3.1.4 on a clean live ubuntu 20 right now and still no success.

Maybe you should try running ubuntu on virtual box and test for yourself from there and alert us when this' fixed. Because maybe there is something I'm doing wrong and you might be able to identify it.
What do you think about that? @Mikhail-Zex
I'll try. The reason I'm bad at this is that I'm a strictly windows person and have only been managing a project for a month now + school work.
So I'll definitely try but it'll take some time.
I'm also facing the same issue, hope it'll be resolved soon. Please let me know if there's something to be done on my part.

I'm having similar issues on Arch, I usually use zsh or fish. I had thought it was an error with adding lyrics at the end, so I removed that from the config to no avail.
Oh crap. 'No match found on youtube' again. See https://github.com/spotDL/spotify-downloader/issues/929#issuecomment-718059147
