Sonic-pi: Ubuntu ppa

The Ubuntu ppa and the sonic-pi ppa are both out of date right now, there currently isn't any version past Xenial in the sonic-pi ppa. Are there plans to update this or is this method no longer being maintained? The website currently says it's still kept up to date.

@samaaron it'd be an honor. I am starting to love this software, I feel the same enthusiasm as when I wrote my first .MOD using Impulse Tracker back in the 90s.

@adamrmelnyk yep, and it seems documentation points to latest 3.x release, though, most of it won't work with versions in packaged systems. I had to build it from source, and gosh, it takes so much time.

Unfortunately we do not have the resources to maintain Sonic Pi for generic linux.

If anyone is in the position to package and maintain Sonic Pi for their specific distro, then we'd love to talk.

@webpolis that's wonderful!

I've removed all mentions of Linux on the website as I agree with @adamrmelnyk that it's a bit disingenuous. However, I'd love to add it back once we have a supported package for v3.x :-)

@samaaron I'd suggest a snap package

@adamrmelnyk - yes, I've seen this suggested before. Sounds great. If anyone would like to create and maintain a snap package - that would be amazing and please talk to me about it.

@adamrmelnyk I got it to build seemingly cleaningly for 18.04 (see #1974) -- I hope this helps if you are still thinking of updating the PPA.
