Voice messages can not be used to listen to simple playback. Can only be broadcast through the speaker. This is not conducive to privacy.
Hope that developers can join this feature.
Signal Version 2.141.1
IOS 10.3.2
@odesky To clarify, do you mean you want to be able to play voice messages through the ear piece/receiver speaker rather than the loud speaker?
First of all, thank you for your attention.
My idea is to use the reciever to listen to voice messages.
But now the SIGNAL for iOS can only use the speaker to listen to voice messages.
Like Signal for Android, listening to voice messages can be converted from a phone's distance sensor to a reciever or speaker.
Currently on iOS it's not possible to listen to audio messages not through loud speakers.
The question is, why not? In my opinion, a messenger whose main advantage is privacy but at the same time is not able to play voice messages privately disqualifies itself. It can't be due to iOS, because so can the "green alternative".
I thought the lack of support was due to my beta iOS software, but I'm really surprised that Signal simply doesn't support this feature on iOS.
Thanks, we've got all the details we need on this.
We will get to this eventually, but it's not top of the list. If someone is feeling helpful, they could do the research themselves and open a PR.
In the meanwhile, please don't "me too" or request status updates on GH. It's not helpful. It doesn't get things done more quickly. And it spams everyone on the repository subscribers list.
The community forum is better suited for these kinds of interactions: https://community.signalusers.org/
This should be fixed, right? You can either listen to voice messages using your loud speaker or (covering the proximity sensor) through the ear piece.
