Whenever I do anything, I have a "Processing error of the message" appearing for one of my verified contacts.
It's really annoying because I receive multiple notifications that I really don't need/want.
Whenever I check unread messages, I send a message or receive one, I receive at the exact same time this notification.
On an other Windows device, it's "Note for myself" which is receiving this message...
Actual Result:
Each time a "Processing error" when something happen and a notification of the real thing happening (new message, view/read status changed, …).
Expected Result:
No useless notification of Something wrong coming from this shitty GUI app.
Only notification of real interaction with someone or a group.

Signal Version: v1.22.0
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro x64
Version: 1809
Version of the Operating System: 17763.379
Linked Device Version: Android 8.1.0

After deleting all content on the PC, deleting the link on the smartphone app and after making the relink process, everything is working again smoothly.
It's just sad to not see all historic messages showing up again :/
Maybe a good idea for development ?
@melvinmajor The original error was
ERROR 2019-03-18T08:08:15.853Z background onError: Error: Over 2000 messages into the future!
Did you happen to leave Desktop offline for a while, exchanging lots and lots of messages with one contact?
@scottnonnenberg-signal yes, it happened. I use the desktop app on multiple devices (2 Windows, 1 mac and 1 linux). Even though, the syncing process never had this issue before.
Also, I don't understand the syncing process as it's stating per 10 messaging loaded at the launch of the app even if there had only 4 new messages.
Example from last week : 72 new messages stated +700 messages loaded at the launch of the app.
Same issue here.
It happen with the windows desktop app, according to this scheme :
-> Error message appears within active conversation for old messages and sometime corrupt new messages too.
Issue happened once again, same scheme as @Norde .
The syncing process is very very slow and doesn't work perfectly on Windows.
On Linux everything is synced rapidly and all the history is present but not on Windows (I have my messages but not Always those from others on messages received while the desktop app was shut down).
No improvement visible with V1.26.0.
Have this same issue on MacOS. Choosing to Reset session seems to have worked, but I've now lost all message history on my laptop. Definitely not ideal....
@sirhc-k How long has it been since you last launched Signal Desktop before seeing this issue?
Reproduced on Windows 10 and Ubuntu 18. It can be even just a couple of days of having 1 machine offline, and then one has to remove it using the mobile app and re-add to restore proper functionality.
It’s not a fix, but I’ve found that since every read receipt in either direction seems to count as a “message” for the purposes of what Signal is counting here, turning off read receipts and typing indicators has massively reduced the frequency with which I see this issue.

For months now, I don't have this issue anymore.
I managed to have more than 2.000 messages before actually resyncing Signal on my laptop and the problem didn't occure.
Not all messages has been synced (some of mine were missing) but most of it were there so, for me it's good like that.
Glad to see that the team fixed it :)
