I have a group that is muted on my phone (Signal-Android). Signal-Desktop however still sends desktop notifications when a message appears in that group.
Actual result: Notification appears
Expected result: No Notification
Operating System: Linux
Signal version: 1.0.35
@elya5 Thanks for reporting this. We don't currently sync that 'muted' state between devices, so I've changed this to a feature request.
Just moved a couple of friends from FB to Signal and this is the first thing they complained about. :S
Yeah this is very extremely bad
Related to #815
I think it's also the same as #729
This issue has been around for 2-3years now...maybe time for actually implementing this feature?
It seems like there is a pull request for dev on this but it was put on hold?
https://github.com/signalapp/Signal-Desktop/pull/1310
Any news about this? It seems like a pretty significant feature, and given it's already implemented in mobile, it should be pretty easy to implement in the desktop...
What's the status on this? It's super annoying in group messages, but I have personal chats whose notifications I don't want to miss.
Even if they weren't synced and it was possible to mute separately on the desktop that would be a huge improvement.
See also #815.
unfortunately, #815 was locked to contributors, which is... disheartening and annoying to say the least. I'm also not clear why; there's been several pull requests and no actual progress.
Here's hoping all of the team growth and capital infusion can help move this feature along!
@shesek In order to help protect the security of Signal users, we do not condone or support pasting code snippets into the developer console. This also isn't behavior that we want to normalize or promote on the issue tracker because it could make future troubleshooting more difficult.
