(I do not know where I should put this feature request) Create a Signal version for Ubuntu Touch.

The thing that stopped me from continuing work on the Ubuntu phone app is the lack of server support for push notifications. If the recent suggestion in the issue linked above points to a workaround - I have not looked into account-polld to know if that is the case - development may resume.

I can fully understand OWS not willing to spend any resources or attention cycles on a niche platform, however @liliakai, the message you closed the issue with is unprofessional :)

The team at Open Whisper Systems is currently focused exclusively on the iOS, Android, and Desktop applications.

Go create a crowdfund and use the money to pay someone to make the app for you.

Jani Monoses has indeed spearheaded the effort:
https://github.com/janimo/textsecure-qml/issues/12

@janimo has reached out to the Open Whisper Systems team as OWS has suggested in the above referenced article. It would be welcomed if someone would reach out to him/the community. The project should be moving forward with an open dialogue even if the goal is far from being accomplished.

If there are security concerns with Jani's code, let them be discussed.
If there are technical concerns with Jani's code, let them be discussed.
If it's a funding issue, put a pricetag on it.

This issue cannot be solved without help from the community and OWS.

Platforms are like puppies, and we already have three dogs in this family. Sorry, kids.

Closed Whisper Systems strikes again.

All of our software and protocols are fully open source, and we would love to see a version of Signal for Windows, BlackBerry, or Ubuntu Phone! If someone with the right experience is interested in spearheading this effort, please get in touch on our mailing list.

Seems totally logical to have clients in as much platforms as possible. This can be promoted and OWS and seems intelligent to collaborate with the ones that are putting time and effort in improving their platform.

@liliakai can you open the issue please?

@gabriel-lucas I don't think they consider creating a client for Ubuntu Touch to be time worth spent, considering it has a smaller userbase than Windows 10 Mobile last time I checked.

no matter what they consider it, they could still encourage volunteers to do it.

OWS does not approve of others using their servers (source), so they are not going to encourage people to do exactly that. The other alternative is for OWS themselves to ship the app (even if all the coding is done by volunteers and they just accept PRs), and that does add additional work.
