Sharex: Bad High Resolution Performance

Created on 24 Mar 2018  路  10Comments  路  Source: ShareX/ShareX

On hi-res displays (in my case, 3840x2160), the performance in the region selector is terrible. I get no more than 10fps ever. I've also just reinstalled Windows 10. I have a GeForce GTX 1080 and the latest NVIDIA drivers as well. I also have two other 4K monitors, but even after disconnecting them, leaving one, and rebooting, it still performs this way.

Whilst I鈥檓 also affected by this issue it鈥檚 super inconsistent and I can鈥檛 find any way to replicate it so I could make it an issue and have steps to reproduce :x

One day I鈥檒l get a solid 30 FPS when setting up a screen capture. Sometimes I鈥檒l get 5 and I鈥檒l have to cancel it and try again (which helps me).

This has been happening for a while too and I do think this has been brought up in the issue tracker multiple times (on phone can鈥檛 check).

Really hope there is a way to reproduce and see if Jaex can fix it.

Mainly my FPS 120-140.

@Jaex it's well known that the higher resolution you use the shitter your fps
it's like 20FPS on 6+ displays

I have 3 4K displays, and when testing with one 4K display connected, I still get 10FPS. If I can get 70FPS in in GTA V on one monitor with the others plugged in, I think I should be able to get at least 80FPS in ShareX seeing that all it does is dim the screen and render an animated dashed border.

GTA V using GPU to render. So you can't expect to get high FPS with 3x 4K displays using GDI.

Same issue here. 4K monitor slows to a crawl when selecting a capture region

My work laptop, a recent gen i7 cpu with integrated graphics, it's at least running at 30 fps across two 1080p screens and a 1440p screen.

My home PC, with an i7 5820 + GTX 1080, struggles when dual monitors are involved. One of them is 4k which I thought might have been the issue, but scaling down to 1080p on two monitors and my FPS is <10 consistently.

Can I provide logs or troubleshooting time to attempt to debug this with someone?

Heads up, and this may change
Performance of the region capture improves drastically on the next version of windows 10
And I really have no idea why

This is still an issue for me, terrible performance issues with region capture. 2 monitors and 1 laptop display. 2x 1080p on monitors, Laptop display is 4k. the 1080's are also seeing the low frame rate whenever i have the laptop lid open. the moment i close the laptop lid (4k screen) the 2x 1080p monitors are blazing fast. Laptop is more than graphically capable of graphically high demand applications.
