So I finally was able to find the error - it was quite dumb of me to not think of it in the first place: The error only happens when Companion is running because Companion uses the same port for its web interface as the media scanner for its api.
But that is not a server error so I'll close this issue.

Can you check what accessing the scanner directly in your browser returns? Perhaps it is returning an error page and not valid data?
It should be http://127.0.0.1:8000/cls and http://127.0.0.1:8000/thumbnail

Yes, I use the CasparCG Launcher to start both.

Can you check what accessing the scanner directly in your browser returns? Perhaps it is returning an error page and not valid data?

Interestingly enough, it now works since I updated the vcredist libraries. No more error messages and I also get valid responses back when checking directly in the browser. So perhaps a now fixed bug in the visual c++ redistributable?

Hi everybody
I downloaded and start trying the new build of CasparCG server version, and i noticed huge improvements in media play, actually my only problem is with the media scanning folder or refreshing, it's seems that this new version don't allow me to perform this task.
I have tried almost all the advices present in this issue debate, I am sure that I am not having the right skills for some kind of interventions, but in the previous versions of the CasparCG server software I never got in this problem, actually I am solving this issue running by first the older version i have of the server (2.0.7. Stable Release) e, running the client version 2.2.0, then i close the server version 2.0.7, and I start the server version 2.3.0 d49b5bc8 dev, then finally i can play the videos from the client.

If you intend starting the scanner.exe by double clicking on the scanner.exe, yes i did it
In both situations, before starting the server soft and after, I also downloaded the scanner build separately, I substituted the one in the server folder, nothing change, when I am clicking on it just open for one second a cmd window and closing it.
I am sure that I am not doing the right thing for starting the scanner.exe
I will grateful if some one can help me in this simple task.

The server version 2.1.11NRK is working fine without this problem and without the need to start the scanner.exe, just there is a problem with the client version 2.2.0, is not displaying the remaining time and the audio meters....with client 2.08 it can be fix...

There are multiple ways:

You can use the includedcasparcg_auto_restart.bat Script
You can use NRKs CasparCG-Launcher. Copy it into the Caspar-Folder and launch it.

I have also run into the issue with the client not displaying the times and audio levels correctly in version 2.2.0 of the client, but I believe this has been a known bug for some time, with no plans to be fixed in the near future?
