Secret-hitler: Trial Moderation Application

We are seeking players who are familiar with this game and its discord server as well as the rules we have set for the community.

This will be a test of your judgement and activeness. Afterwards, if deemed successful, you will be promoted to moderator. If not, you will be removed from the position.

As a trial mod, you will be expected to assess player reports and determine the appropriate action and then relay your judgement to the mod team by use of a #trial-mod private chat on discord. You will not be taking action yourself.

Screenshots definitely make moderating easier so you will also be given limited access to a seperate discord server for moderation, owned by RavenCaps, to post any screenshots.

On site you will have access to a report log just like on discord but with more info (additional info should be kept private) and, in lobby, will be able to see who created each game table.

You will not be expected to warn troublesome players, please leave this to moderators if available.

You will not be expected to participate on github issues, but bonus points if you do!

You will not be given a symbol or a special color for your username.

I've played a lot and i feel like i would be a decent mod. I have been a moderator on other games and I feel like i'm a nice guy. I love helping people out and supporting the community. I want to be a moderator because I want to help people who feel like their voice is not being heard over others. I also want to make sure that players can have fun, while still being competitive, without offending each other. I've been on for just over a month and I love the people on here. I see things from all point of views, while still voicing my opinions on certain people's behavior. I've never been reported on SH, and I've never had an issue with any other players. I love playing Secret Hitler and play as often as I can.

I've been part of the community for a while now. I'm able to be active 1-2 hours a day on the weekdays. On the weekends, I am able to be on 4-5 hours. Now that school is over, every day I should be able to be on for a decent amount of time. I'm an EST player and I live in the US. I am a fairly experienced player and know how the game works. I post what evidence I find in public aem and try to be as fair as possible when someone afks a game, including posting screeshots that proved who my fascist team was and hence gave myself a loss. I've played Secret Hitler for two years now, going right back to the days of .online and I believe I was one of the first people to play on .io! I have moderated several other servers before, so I have plenty of experience there. Unfortunately, I have not been able to play much recently due to work but, as I finished this work on Thursday, I'm able to play again. In short, I would like to help out the community that clearly is the best way to play Secret Hitler! I have played SH a lot recently, I played a bit a couple months ago, then left, but I am back. I like SH a lot, the community is fun. The game is fun. Everything about this place, is fun. I want to help regulate the game because I have been a moderator for other games. I played this game with friends in real life, and we ended up playing it for 2 hours. That is something amazing, to see a game make me not even have a sense of time. Anyways, enough about me, I wanted to say that I know how to moderate, and what kind of punishment to give, and the process of taking action. I know that I don't exactly have a spotless reputation on the SH.io website, but I will say that I have also helped bring to light a lot of glaring issues amongst the moderation team as it currently stands and I'm also very actively invested in getting to know the players and ensuring that they feel comfortable on the Discord server. I've also been a moderator and admin on various forums in the past, so I'm no stranger to having to enforce rules and explaining the actions being taken by a moderating/administrative team to a member in a way that they can understand that appears as fair as possible. I am also a student of many similar games of this type and I feel like I can be innovative in thinking of ways to draw members together for special games and things like that to hopefully bring new people onto the discord server, as it seems that our discord server doesn't appear very welcoming to new players at this time. I would like an opportunity to show that I can provide value to this site as well as help it run as smoothly and justly as possible. Again, I know that I don't have the greatest track record... but I'm willing to prove that there's more to me than my past mistakes and show you that I do have a lot to bring to the table as far as moderation goes.

I have played a lot of Secret Hitler, and my knowledge of the rules of the game is complete. I know there's no way to assess someone's judgment ability through a paragraph that they wrote themselves but if you choose me as a Trial mod I will prove that I can fairly arbitrate in tough situations. I don't get personally or emotionally involved in the games and I don't hold grudges against other players, If I see behavior that negatively impacts the site, I report it, and as a trial mod I would show how well I can perform the duties that keep the site fun.

I'm also in the underrepresented west coast USA time zone and am often online when there is limited mod activity.

Been a pretty active player since November of 2017, I know every rule inside and out. My main motive for representing the player base as a trial mod would be the obvious problems SH.io has in itself, an example being the "afk" problem. While this can be resolved with harsher consequences, there has been no reinforcement of the rule itself. There are many different ways you can deal with this, but I truly believe that the team behind SH.io has been turning a blind eye to this problem. I believe that mods ARE important, but having them look at every "afk" report is clearly ridiculous as they would have to be online 24/7, and most of the "afk" players have very lenient punishment.

There are more problems with SH.io but I do believe that being a trial mod, I could relay information to the mods more effectively than the "report" system can. While the report system is good, it is not 100% accurate as there are sources of error, including the player reporting while lacking full knowledge of the rules. SH.io is a game that is constantly changing and improving and I would like to be a part of that team.

I’m honestly just doing this for shits and giggles. My access to my SH account has been......limited for awhile, so I’m not super active anymore. I’m just kinda here because I haven’t missed a chance at mod recruitment, and I don’t plan to, even if I know I can’t actually become a trial mod.
