Scratch-www: What's Happening? box on homepage does not obey language selection

Created on 28 Jul 2017  Â·  9Comments  Â·  Source: LLK/scratch-www

Expected behavior

The language in the "What's Happening?" box should match my selection (Edible Scratch)

Actual behavior

Things like like "was promoted to manager of" or "shared the project" are in Chinese because of location setting, and don't obey my language selection:

Before you rush in and say Edible Scratch is a low-priority language, let me just say that the same thing happens in English:

Could this be fixed? I can actually read Chinese, but English is much easier for me, and I'm pretty sure there are plenty of people here that can't read Chinese and don't know what that box is saying.

Cache clearing - no effect

Caching issue maybe?

@TheGrits nope - I've cleared my cache trying to fix this several times in the past.

@Kenny2github Thanks, that's relevant information to know when trying to reproduce the bug.

@TheGrits np - changing the OP

Thanks @Kenny2github – we'll try to repro and see what we can find!

When I set my language to Italian (which I think is 100% translated), the strings are still in English:

@mewtaylor I think this doesn’t need any more repros?

This seems to have been fixed in the latest deploy somehow - I am now seeing correct text (even in edible scratch). Closing - will reopen if issue reappears

Nope, Italian still shows English strings:
