Rocket.chat: New KaTeX bug, line breaks appear as `<br>`

Created on 4 Jan 2020  路  10Comments  路  Source: RocketChat/Rocket.Chat

Description:

This definitely wasn't happening last week, not sure when my RocketChat would've upgraded however. I'm on v2.15.2.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Do some KaTeX (sorry if the vulgarness seems unprofessional).

  2. That worked fine and looks great.
  3. Add some line breaks.

  4. It's broke. Line breaks show as HTML line breaks.

Expected behavior:

Just do the KaTeX. Ignore newline characters like it did before, UNLESS you use the KaTeX commands for newline.

Actual behavior:

<br> is printed for every newline character.

I can confirm, I have these <br> line breaks here as well, even when not taking strong language ;)

@Crayder Could you post the message that breaks here? Thanks!

@MartinSchoeler It's not just a specific message. It every message I send with newline characters within the KaTeX code.

@real-or-random Thank you I was going to bump it too and forgot. This is definitely still an issue.

Another bug I can observe is that \\( tex \\) works but \( tex \) does not work. I think it's supposed to be the other way around. I believe this could be related to this bug because some processing is applied in the wrong order...
