Previous behavior was a reasonably-scaled thumbnail of the image, which when clicked, would open up to a larger version popup.
One of two things happens:
(Some data pixelated for privacy).

Second part (large images) is a duplicate of #10980 and #11013 and is already fixed in PR #10998
Got you. Since I am on docker, it seems the latest available there is 8349c36 from May 30th. Will await release there.
Updated my home docker container to 0.66.0-develop (5565503). It is as you say with the large image issue fixed. I believe the first issue is limited to TIF files (as the one in my example is a tif document). I converted the same file to jpg and png, and it worked fine.
Can you provide a sample TIF file to test with @bkraul?
GitHub would not let me attach TIF.
@ggazzo was this fixed already?
have you guys tested on the latest version?
Tested on 0.67.0-develop (c37a90....). Now there is not even a thumbnail showing. Just the following:

The file can be downloaded, though, and it previews in Windows.
alright.. so it's an issue with TIFF files.. I've confirmed it. I'll update the title accordingly.. thx
Originally it was an issue with all images, which was fixed in the develop branch, but the TIFF issue remained, so good call.
Rocket Chat 3.1.1
The problem with previewing TIFF remained.
