The problem doesn't occur with the rgui driver.

I also have this problem.

Also running GBA on one d f the base cores.
Games runs fine but when accessing the RA menu it freezes. Some times I get the GPU error. Most times it just freezes the Vita. Have to hard crash it to boot again.
I only installed all this this week. Thought it might be something I had done wrong.

Any updates would be great.
Thanks

I can confirm this. It's occuring since last few months changes in VBANext core.
Also switching to rgui or ozone works. This makes it seem like xmb + VBANext combo is the real issue here.

I think on a RAM strapped system like PS Vita, going with something that has less potential for memory leaks like RGUI is probably the better option. Less system resources used too.

Regardless, I'll inform @frangarcj about this. Hopefully there is a way to fix it.

This bug remains, even with retroarch 1.8.1. Only RGUI and recently sometimes it does work with ozone anything else will crash retroarch while using some core.

This is quite a bummer since XMB looks so damn good on Vita.

Hi, the problem is still there in the latest release. XMB look indeed very great on PS Vita. I hope someone can solve this.

can you send me your data folder? with which core does it crash? I want to reproduce it

Sure I can send it to you, but not right now. It only occurs with the xmb + VBANext core + combo (to use the retroarch menu). gsPS won't load the game at all, but that is an other issue.

Do you want solely the data directory after the GPU dumping crash?

I have the same problem with SegaCD emulation and XMB. When I call menu — it crashes with GPU error. If I choose Ozon — everything is normal. I used 1.7x previously — everything was fine.

I also encountered this problem when launched the Sega mega drive game with Genesis Plus GX core, when clicking Start+Select+L1+R1 it sometimes crashes the whole Vita for no reason
Here are crash dumps with 1.8.4 version
