Huh, for the 15.6.2 release, I worked from 15.6-dev (https://github.com/facebook/react/pull/10430). I think we should cut a new 15.6-dev to work from. Once it's ready we can merge it into stable.

We dropped IE8 support two years ago. You can fork 15.x and try to get it to a state that works with IE8 (it may not need many changes) but we won't be supporting that officially.
