Rdpwrap: Not working on Windows 10 Pro v1903

Created on 19 Jul 2019  ·  44Comments  ·  Source: stascorp/rdpwrap

I just tested the latest version (zip file) with a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro x64 v1903 build 18362.175
RDPWrap does not work - it shows that it's running, installed, and listening, but says "not supported" and any attempts to connect to RDP lock the desktop (only one connection is permitted).

Any ideas?
Thank you.

Hmm that usually means the INI file is no good. Let me grab another copy that I know that is working on a 1903 machine with the same version. Also don’t uninstall / reinstall that will replace the INI file you are copying in. Or if you reinstall basically you have to make sure you put the INI file back. Try the attached INI file again. Also one more thing, if you uninstall the Remote Desktop Services should start fine, so you could verify that.

I just spent a couple of hours finding this, you need this code below. I also zipped up and attached the ini file.

It doesn't seem to work. The RDPConf now shows "Fully Supported" but when
I connect with a second user via RDP, the console user gets booted off.

Am I doing something wrong?

Try restarting service or rebooting, it should be working.

I rebooted, now it shows the service not running. Which service am I
supposed to start?

Remote Desktop Services is the service that needs to be running. Did you copy and paste the attached INI file or did you edit your own file? What does RDPConf.exe show, does it show the everything Green?

Thanks for your fast responses!

Every time I start Remote Desktop Services, it stops again in a few seconds.
The RDP Wrapper Configuration screen shows "Wrapper state: Installed",
"Service State: Stopped", "Listener State: Not listening"
If I start Remote Desktop Service, the "Service State" changes to running
for a few sec then back to Stopped, but Listener State never changes to
Listening.

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong... Just don't know what it is.

Also, I copied the ini file from your ZIP file to the c:program filesRDP
Wrapper directory, then rebooted. I think I also ran the Install and
Uninstall and Update batch files a few times hoping it would fix the issue.

Here's what RDPConfig says:

But when I connect, it disconnects the console session - so it's not
working.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks alot. That ini file works for me.

Thank you VERY VERY MUCH! This latest file you attached worked for me too, I'm up and running with rdpwrap on Win10 Home version 1903 as of today (July 23, 2019)

Also one more thing, if you uninstall the Remote Desktop Services should start fine, so you could verify that. rdpwrap.zip

It also seems like the installer is not working. I can't even see the RDP Wrapper Configuration window shown in the first post here.

Use the ZIP not the EXE. Extract the ZIP to C:RDPWrap and then use the files from there such as install.bat, etc.
https://github.com/stascorp/rdpwrap/releases/download/v1.6.2/RDPWrap-v1.6.2.zip

That worked, thanks Shoeless22.

Another question, where does the ini file attached above go to patch the install? I tried in C:RDPWrap but it doesn't seem to have an existing ini file and putting it in that directory didn't work.

When you run the install.bat it creates C:program fillesrdp wrap I believe is the correct path or search for the ini file in your c: drive.

I found the answer to my own question.

Replace file C:Program FilesRDP Wrapperrdpwrap.ini with one from this post..
Restart termservice.
Use it. No need to restart the computer.

Latest ini file worked for me too. Win10Pro 1903.
Listening State Listening--> Fully Supported.
Rebooting helped.

I am on 1903 Build 18362.267 and unfortunately none of the recommendations above work for me. Any suggestions?

So for everyone who's running Service 10.0.18362.53 here is my solution for the rdpwrap.ini

@cosmos321 will this work for version .267?

For me, it is working, see my post here: https://github.com/stascorp/rdpwrap/issues/858#issuecomment-521358382

Also one more thing, if you uninstall the Remote Desktop Services should start fine, so you could verify that. rdpwrap.zip

This solution worked for me, thank you

My is not working after doing everything
any suggestions??????????
listener state not supported

stop the service running CMD as administrator
net stop termservice
Replace rdpwrap.ini in C:Program FilesRDP Wrapper
net start termservice

not working after doing this also

The same with me. Replaced INI file and the result was

Any new additions to the INI file?

Here is what I do now, see the attached zip for the files.

  1. Copy the contents of RDPWrap-v1.6.2 folder to computer path "%ProgramFiles%RDP Wrapper" (c:Program FilesRDP Wrapper)
  2. Run as Administrator install.bat
  3. Run as Administrator autoupdate.bat
  4. Under the Helper Folder Run as Administrator autoupdate__enable_autorun_on_startup.bat
  5. Use RDPConf.exe to make sure our DLL version is Fully Supported in GREEN
  6. Use RDPCheck.exe to test

(Do not run update.bat, this will download an old ini file, that is why I have renamed it to update.bat.BAD)

@shoeless22 Thank you! You saved my day ;)

@shoeless22 Works flawlessly in the newest win10 version (1909_Build_18363.657_x64). Thanks a lot.

Dear @shoeless22,

Thank you for taking time to make that kind of helpful modification. Until now, I couldn't get a satisfying result and I'm starting to think that I may not be able to achieve the intended result. To explain briefly, I'm trying to connect to my computer session from my Android smartphone using Microsoft Remote Desktop app. So far, I've managed to make it work as it's supposed to (so it logs off my computer when connecting to the session) then I found out about RDP Wrap.

I first had [not supported] so I tried other .ini files and now the issue is fixed and everythings shows in green. I'm still able to use the Remote Desktop app and log in the computer but it stills log it off so there is not much progress. I've unchecked the "single session per user" option but it does not affect the result.
My question is just to know if I missed anything or if the Android Remote on a computer with the same session is just not possible.

Disconnecting my computer session has just no interest for me because I want to use my smartphone as a remote and be able to see what I'm doing on the computer screen. I remember I was doing it long ago with LogMeIn. The difference is I'm trying not to use a third party software and I want to be able to connect without any permission (only local network connection)

I'd be very grateful if you could give me more informations,

Regards,

Test from another computer and see if it works, possibly the Android RDP program you are using it causing the issue but doubtful. Or technically you can even test using the RDP Check tool included in the package from the same computer you are installing on. Also try updating your Windows 10 to the latest version with all updates then run the updater for RDP Wrap again and make sure all is green then test again from your Android device.

@chapaoac Are you running 32bit or 64bit Windows? The ini file I have only has x64 version for that version. Do you have Windows updates to bring it to a later version for termsrv.dll ?

The people whom are creating the INI file sections (working out the sections, not just making them available) will need a copy of your termsrv.dll -- they need that to be able to create the relevant INI file section for that version.

Gracias por su respuesta, díganme cómo realizarlo por favor!
Quedó a su disposición para tratar de solucionarlo.
Desde ya muchas gracias.

The termsrv.dll is within your %SystemRoot%system32 directory, normal C:Windowssystem32.
Find that file, upload it and put a link to it here.

@affinityv Buenas noches, envío el archivo solicitado.
Dejo el link donde guarde el dll.
