I like choosing my music using a search query but I then can't view anything else (e.g. to add it to the queue) without changing my search.
While we could just change the functionality to the desired above, it might be better to leave the current functionality as is and instead implement something new that provides it.
For example we could have a play button next to the search bar that would play songs matching the current query until something else was played regardless of the songs currently visible.
It would probably be a good idea to display the query being played from somewhere (maybe below the search bar or in the status bar?) so that users can see where the music's coming from.
I'm happy to implement this if people think it's a good idea.
Wouldn't it be sufficient to just add the songs from the first query to the queue before making the second query?
Hmm, but I'd still like to use the queue as normal. Basically I want to use the first query as the songs the player goes on to after the queue is exhausted.
So say I pick a genre to listen to but there's a song I want to listen to first. I play from the genre I pick then add the song to queue. I want the genre to keep going until I choose something else but the song to only play once. If I add them all to the queue then they have to be treated all the same because I've added them in the same way.
Also I feel like being able to look around your library without affecting what's playing is a good idea: I expected to be able to do that coming from spotify.

This is what secondary browsers are good for actually.
Huh, a browser in a separate window seemed completely alien to me so I never considered that. Thanks! Damn quod libet keeps on solving my problems in slightly different ways to how I imagine.
Time to find something else to work on!
