Qownnotes: [I] Open note in external editor does not open the note only the external application (OS X 10.14.6)

Expected behaviour

The note is opened in the external editor

Actual behaviour

The note is not opened in the external editor, only the external editor itself is opened.
Tested with BBEdit, vim and Atom (the latter actually opening the file referenced with the first argument by issuing this command in Terminal.app :
tve@TvE-iMac27:~/TMP$ atom done.txt

Steps to reproduce

1. Populate "Preference -> General -> Path to external editor" to EG.: "/Applications/Atom.app"
2. Type CMD+SHIFT+O to open the note in the external editor

Thank you for reporting, I will try to reproduce your issue.

The way this is handled with the open command on macOS doesn't seem to work (any more?). I've found a new way and have rewritten those parts.
