In the document byline viewlet the access to the History view was pretty explicit; that's not the case with the new toolbar where is more like an Easter Egg hidden behind the modification time:

We could add a submenu to the Clock icon to revert the regression caused by removing the densely useful byline viewlet with its at a glance metadata: Author, Creation and Last modification date, Expired state and History tool/actions. Here's a mockup:

@davilima6 I like this. I think we could still add some more info into the top level toolbar. Perhaps just expiry and yet to be published indication. @plone/ux-team: opinions?
@hvelarde makes a good point.. I too had to look around and think before realizing where the history had gone.
+1 on having an arrow on the clock, (and have @davilima6's menu) to show it has a submenu
I would prefer to have the document byline back; easier and cleaner.
+1 on @davilima6's mockup
Could the clock indicate expired status without our having to click to open the submenu to check?
The History view only makes sense if the versioning behavior is active. There were people that already thought the history was buggy.
I'd suggest at least one warning in this case in the view, e.g. "Attention - The Versioning (history) behavior is disabled".
