Created on 26 Jan 2019  ·  8Comments  ·  Source: privacytools/privacytools.io

Description:

Privacy issues are of high complexity but plenty out there. Given the amazing platform directly targeted to end-users it might be a good idea to have a privacy activism blog. Detailing the associated risks of certain features in soft/hard/carpware/SCAPSware. There's this new LINDDUN Privacy SDLC Framework that could be used as a starting point. Lemme know what you gryls think!

:+1: This LINDDUN project is interesting. But the site itself loads analytics.js by google over unencrypted HTTP.

Good insights, @beerisgood

Fair point @beerisgood but so do most academic institutions in this day and age. I don't agree with their choice (it's embarrassing honestly) but it's a reality in this day and age just like Facebook has become (an unfortunate but) important part of society. Whether you want it or not. But please don't let it distract you from the content. I'm sure that the authors are open to constructive criticisms about their site/project.

The problem is that WE users need saying no to stuff like that. If we just ignore the bad thinks, it even get worse.

So I can not agree with you @pdjpdjpdj.
Professional sites should know that

Facebook has become (an unfortunate but) important part of society.

It's our duty to make it clear that privacy-abusing services like Facebook are not important. We need to avoid the bandwagon that the privacy abusers exploit to spread their abuse.

I find it absolutely disgusting that the pro-privacy community has rampant hypocritical disregard for their own cause. They need to eat their own dog food.

BTW, the site is dead now.

So you want privacytools.io to write a privacy blog, if I understand correctly? It's an interesting idea, but who will be writing the posts on a regular basis? I think successful blogs need to be pretty active.

I do like this idea but at the moment this is kind of out-of-scope for this project.
