can you share your logs?
%localappdata%\Microsoft\PowerToys\PowerToys Run\Logs

When you start up, do you see PowerLauncher in your task manager?

Logs :
Logs.zip

No only the PowerToys Runner is running. After i close the app and restart it the PowerLauncher is starting and that seems to fix the issue. Also about the logs i noticed that today ( 25th of August ) the log file was created after i closed and reopened the app. So there was no log file created this morning when i started up my pc.

I'm seeing the same issues (both Runner not working at boot time and requiring a restart of the app to work and logs not created until PowerToys is restarted.
And yes, PowerToys appears in the task manager after boot.

Certainly noteworthy: I am running Insider build 20201.rs_prereleast.200822-1922

After the latest update powerToys Run stopped working entirely. I cant trigger it at all. Tried full uninstall and install and nothing. Also tried reverting to the previous version but it doesn't work either. I honestly wish it can be fixed in the next (maybe) update.

@FotisSp There is a known issue that we are trying to track down where the installer isn't updating the assemblies correctly, and results in a Does deleting your C:\Program Files\PowerToys and reinstalling mitigate the issue for you? If it does I suspect its the same issue. If not we will have to investigate another issue.

@ryanbodrug-microsoft yes it did fix it although i am running version 20.1. v21.1 didn't work at all.

I confirm that doing a full uninstall and deleting the app folder solves the issue for v0.21.1

@ryanbodrug-microsoft that then leads me to believe that this is the 1.0.0.0 versioning dll issue if deleting the folder solved the issue

@FotisSp can you share some of the logs when you try running 0.21.1? From the 0.20 logs there don't seem to be any unhandled exceptions, so it could be related to the Restart as admin functionality (there is a known issue where PowerLauncher.exe doesn't get launched properly sometimes after pressing Restart as admin).

@arjunbalgovind here you are
0.21.1.0.zip

Currently Run does not work at all. Tried Uninstall and reinstall and nothing. Also tried what you said to delete the Program Files/Prowe Toys folder and it did not solve the issue.

@FotisSp are there any crashes in the event viewer? And does PowerLauncher.exe appear at all in Task Manager for 0.21.1, and does disabling and re-enabling PowerToys Run from settings have any effect?

The logs show that PowerToys Run never completes its initialization on startup, but it doesn't show any exception either which indicates why it crashed, so event viewer logs might have more information.

Can you also try deleting the settings folder for PowerToys Run? (everything in C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\PowerToys\PowerToys Run\, except the Logs folder)

@arjunbalgovind From what i can see in the event viewer there is not any crashes. In Task manager there is only PowerToys.exe not the Launcher. Disabling and re-enabling PowerToys Run from settings seems to fix the issue. I have to test it after a restart to see if it persists or not. Will report back as soon as i can.

Closing this issue in favor of #5860 as it will get resolved when that is fixed.
