PowerToys Run doesn't give calculation or search results most of the time

For calculations & searches to give results

Nothing ever shows up in the results, or sometimes there will be results but doing to the same calculation/search a second time gives no results.

This was working fine a version or two back, but now with version 0.20 I rarely get results. I'm also seeing issues with math calculations where they don't give a result but do give a list of files with lots of numbers in their name.

Hello! I am brand new to GitHub. Please advise if I should report my bug in a new thread.

Otherwise, my addition to this is that calculation works but is VERY slow. Calculation also has a math error:

I'm not getting the correct result for that either.

But I do with Wox.

While investigating why I had no hard drive space left I found that the Windows Search Index was 133 GB. With the last version update it said something about adjusting these settings, which I did. Now that I set the Find My Files setting back to Classic and rebuilt the search index I got all my space back (1.35 GB vs. 133 GB) and PowerToys Run also works again. It's really responsive and gives me results every time now, including calculations.

Update: now that the index has finished rebuilding I'm noticing slowdowns again for both searches and calculations.

hi @xorted, sorry about that, we're working on this all as we push for stability. is this still the same for 0.20.1. I'm not able to repro this on the latest!

@saahmedm yes it's still an issue with 0.20.1. Once my search index was finished rebuilding the issue came back. It's not as severe as when the index was larger, but it takes far longer than Wox to give calculations and sometimes it doesn't give results at all.

My search index is 1.43 GB right now. I'm using the Classic setting for Find My Files with OneNote, Outlook, Start Menu, and the Users folder on the list of locations to index.

@saahmedm, I can't repro the issues reported here.
The calcualtor works as expected now.

Also, I think we made significant performance improvements over the last two iterations (since this issue was opened) including reducing the number of results from each plugin and running the slower indexer queries on a separate thread.

@xt0rted, can you please try out our latest release and let us know if the issue still persists.
