If you install this on the Latest Springboard Series of Windows 10. It will erase All of your Startup Files. I am Out over $5,000 worth of Software. It is Total Garbage and should Never have been Tested First before putting it out in Mass Circulation.

@crutkas @enricogior
Please look at this issue. It looks very strange.

regardless as to How Strange it may appear. I am out Thousands of Dollars in Expensive Software. Solidworks thinks I'm trying to install software on a Windows XP System and I'd love to meet the person who can get XP to run on an AMD Ryzen Processor.

Please give us more details:

  • Which Windows version?
  • Which PowerToys version?
  • How have you done the install?
  • Which files were deleted?
  • Log files if available?

Otherwise we can't help you.

The Latest Version of the Springboard Series, the Latest Update to Power Toys. I think it is Version 2.? I did the Install and It Deleted All of my Windows 10 Springboard Series Startup Files and I had to Reload Windows in its entirety. Windows 10 Diagnostics Couldn't Rebuild my system and after using every option available I had to Reset my system and Lost 90% of my CNC Cad Software and Now when I try and reinstall all of it it refuses to install 2008 .Net files necessary to reload Any of the Software. The most expensive of which is SolidWorks 2020. This ISN'T SPAM for the uninitiated, it is a WARNING to people who haven't got the TIME to SIT in front of their Systems for better than 12 Hours to reload their Software. Piece by Piece. I'm getting PISSED OFF TO THE POINT OF DELETING WINDOWS ONCE AND FOR ALL AND INSTALLING LINUX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had you updated PT via auto update or manually or was it a fresh install?

Do you know the error message which were shown when Windows was broken?

It was a Power Toys Update.

Seems to be the same as #4141.

What is springboard series? the diff between 18.1 and 18.2 is minimal. Nothing PT does should cause this type of regression

@rockman44181000 Right now, there is very little information here for us to try and figure out what is going on. We do need to know more about your system and what is happening

  • Exact version of windows
  • Exact version of powertoys
  • What would be helpful is what is actually installed on system that could cause that conflict

happy to set up a teams call where we can investigate

Also, i've never heard of the springboard series of win10. enterprise, pro, home, education are all SKUs i'm aware of. Any chance you can include a screen of "about pc"?

here my desktop currently:

Wherein I had mentioned the Springboard Series of Updates I had really meant the Windows Insider Program. I was running the Latest Version of the Insider Program Update when the update was installed. When I upgraded from V.1 to V.2 of the Power Toys in Wiped my Entire Start Up Folder of Windows 10 Files and I had to Purchase a New Copy of Windows 10. In the process I lost more than $10,000 worth of Software. I have since managed to restore most of my programs though Custom Stereo Lithographic Files that I had saved over the past 3 years were Useless as my address base couldn't be restored. Not even a Image of my hard drives could restore my Start Up Files.

I鈥檓 sorry @rockman44181000 but once again, we really need more targeted information here. Exact build numbers and versions of PowerToys. Event logs would be helpful too. Right now this can鈥檛 be investigated.

Next, There is no .1 or .2 of PowerToys.

Third, Our installer doesn鈥檛 do any of what you are describing as well.

In addition, knowing what was installed could be helpful as that could aid in spotting a conflict.

Lastly, you should have licenses for all these so you shouldn鈥檛 have lost anything even if you had to reformat.

I can't give you the specifics that you're asking for because I don't have the Windows 10 Version Number in Front of me anymore, Its Gone like the Wind. I had Installed Power Toys when it was first offered to me approximately 2-3 months ago and when I was notified that there was an Update. I Installed it directly from Github. When my system Rebooted, it Refused to Load Windows Startup Files and the Windows automatic Troubleshooter couldn't repair my installation. I had gotten Windows 10 when it was originally offered for free and had updated it religiously and even moved into the Windows Insider Program 2 years ago. I had had experiences where my startup files had been deleted in the past, but the Windows Automatic Troubleshooter was always able to restore my system. I was forced to Spring for a Windows 10 Professional USB Drive with a new registration and activation code. I had saved Images of my hard drives at both ASUS Web Storage and Acronis and none of these could restore my drives. Everything else I wasn't prepared for and can't give you any particulars.

Without any of the needed info, sadly this will be closed as can鈥檛 repo. We lack just far too many details
