I think it would be nice to have sound mixer as flyout (like Action Centre) or pinned on desktop that allows mute applications, change apps volume, and maybe choose default input/output devices.
Sound mixer in Taskbar looks pretty old, And is not easily accessible. It requires the volume icon to be enabled as well.
Sound mixer that's in Settings also is hard to get to. And design is a bit confusing.
Have you tried ear trumpet?

Never used it. But looks nice, thanks for the info.
I guess that app eliminates the need for similar functionality in PowerToys
It is pretty baller and free (and open source too https://github.com/File-New-Project/EarTrumpet) /cc @riverar

I think it would still be beneficial to add it to PowerToys, these tools are amazing, maybe they can work together on this feature
EarTrumpet should totally be adopted by Windows. The volumer mixer in settings (what they want us to use instead of the control panel volume mixer) is an abomination.

In my opinion the pop-up Volume Mixer should be default, in stead of the minimal one-slider volume control. I do not intend to use third party software for something basic as this is.
@Jay-o-Way Agreed. It should be part of Windows. It's sad that they deprecated the pop-up/control panel volume mixer.
