It seems that FancyZones only supports custom zones for the primary monitor. It would be very helpful if that could be extended to multi-monitor.
Each zone would be defined and attached to a specific monitor. Each monitor would have unique zones; in other words, different zones per monitor.
I'd really like zones to be tied to specific monitors. This is especially important if you often dock your laptop. You want one zone layout for the docked display, and another for the laptop screen.
So by tying a zone layout to a specific display monitor that is detected, I think both my requirement and @hglkrijger's requirement would be addressed in one go.
If not possible, at least tie a zone layout to a specific resolution + dpi combination. (ie if you see a 4K display at 200% scale factor, apply one layout, if you see another 4K display with 100% scale factor, use different layout, and of course also specific to resolution). I do see you might want to have different layouts for two identical monitors, so not sure if you can (choose to?) tie to resolution, device id, device name, etc.
Hi @hglkrijger, @dotMorten
we are tracking the multi monitor issue here https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys/issues/195
Thanks.
In addition to the request above, it would be nice to support Zoning on multiple Monitor Orientations for Multi-Monitor scenario. For example it would be nice to split the Portrait Orientation into two halves horizontally where as landscape orientations vertically.
Hi @vmaruthi
I'm closing this issue since is a dup of https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys/issues/195
Feel free to add your suggestion to https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys/issues/195
Thanks.
