Powertoys: [FZ Editor] Allow a "No Zones" configuration (No FZ for target monitor)

Created on 5 Sep 2019  ·  10Comments  ·  Source: microsoft/PowerToys

On one of my virtual desktops I wanted no zones at all, just the normal Windows Aero snap, but I found it awkward to get to that state.
I tried going to Custom -> “Start blank” but that just ended up going back to Focus mode.
Then I tried creating my own zone layout called “NoZones” with no defined custom zones, and applied it – again it went back to Focus mode.
So finally I figured out I could set Columns to 1 and choose “Column” and get what I wanted, but I’d prefer a way to disable this for a specific virtual desktop.

We also need to be able to disable FancyZone on individual monitors.

We also need to be able to disable FancyZone on individual monitors.

I found that after deleted custom layout, the deleted layout still in the win+ctrl+ loop.
for example. I created a 5 zones layout (layout A) and deleted it. I created another 5 zones layout (layout B). when i press win+ctrl+5,I still can see layout A(been deleted) in the loop.
I can't find a way to remove "layout A". any idea on this issue?

@chgc
thanks for reporting the issue. We will fix it while working on the overall fix for this feature.

@chgc
the issue you described is now fixed in master and it will be available in the next release (0.15).

Sorry, I installed 0.27 but am unable to find the feature. If I just reset the layout for the current virtual desktop, default Aero Snap is not working but I just cannot use any keyboard shortcuts like Win-Left or Win-Right in order to dock windows to the left/right half of the screen. I have to completely deactivate FancyZones in order to make the default Windows behaviour work again.

@kriegaex
can you please open a new bug?
We added the functionality to reset the layout for a desktop, but we now need to fix the FZ behavior to allow Windows Snap to be active on the desktop that doesn't have a layout assigned.
Thanks.

@enricogior: Um, actually you could do that by yourself if you prefer to handle this separately. I think you have all the information you need to reproduce this. If you don't, please let me know. But actually I think you should re-open this one, because in the issue description you wrote by yourself in the very first sentence:

On one of my virtual desktops I wanted no zones at all, just the normal Windows Aero snap

Exactly that is not working as expected, so this issue is incomplete. But like I said, up to you.

@kriegaex
the issue has my name on it because I imported all the issues from another repo, anyway that is an unimportant detail.
This issue was about adding the "no zone" option in the editor.
I'll open a new issue for the work in the FZ engine.
Thanks.

No, it was more than just "no zones", it also was about "normal Aero snap", like the OP of this issue already wrote explicitly and I quoted in bold script. But thanks anyway for creating a follow-up issue. The important thing for me is that the problem will be fixed.
