Sometimes we need the virtual keyboard for typing in languages that use different scripts such as Korean or Russian, but we still keep using the physical keyboard for shortcuts such as Alt+Tab or for the numbers, etc.
Any time we hit any real key, the virtual keyboard is dismissed (Windows 10)
Maybe a pin function could help. There is plenty of space there to add one more icon
Oh my god please. I can't express this enough! It's a PITA on a surface. ♥
Agree that this seems like general goodness for Windows IMEs. Can you please use the Windows Feedback Hub to submit this? That is the official way to get suggestions to the Windows Shell team.
Are you aware of "WinKey + ."? Does this solve your issue or do you strongly believe you want the virtual keyboard to act this way.
@crutkas, I didn't know that shortcut, but to me WinKey + .
is not only opening that window you printed, but is also dismissing the virtual keyboard. Should I change a setting somewhere for it to work properly?
Thanks
so you no matter what want the virtual keyboard? correct? I was seeing if this was a good workaround. We'll still poke around for if this is possible
Yes, I need the virtual keyboard for typing in Russian from time to time. My physical keyboard doesn't have both scripts printed on it and I'm too lazy to learn the positions by heart (I can't do that even when typing in my native language)
This didn't happen before the XAML rewrite in 1709
@Poopooracoocoo, it tells me my account does not have access to these comments:
But if I could find where I can check my feedbacks, I would have posted here my feedback on this regard to MS.
I still think this issue would be solved much faster through this channel though, because it changes Windows default behaviour towards this kind of window (like the notifications one for instance) and main Windows development will probably dismiss this
I found it. Got the tab design mixed up by a title... Here it goes (yes, I sent it twice without noticing):
Both are "aknowledged" but there is no reply, so Windows team seems to have ignored my suggestion
I don't think that they were really acknowledged. The Feedback Hub is trash
