Firstly, I'm so please to see this is under development again, great stuff.
Both these issues have been found while using a wacom contiq companion 2.
@tclancey Hi I answered your other bug report and initially I'd like to ask you to test the Nightly Builds, but also whenever reporting a new bug would you mind using the Proposed Bug Report Guidelines? You can find them here: http://www.pencil2d.org/forums/topic/proposed-bug-reporting-guidelines/
This problem can be related due to old Qt libraries in the 0.5.4 dev version, however I can't test this since I don't own a Cintiq Companion.
Hopefully the recent Nightly Builds are enough to help improve how the Companion recognizes Pencil, and in turn it will allow these problems to go away. If it doesn't happen then I'll tag a dev to investigate, although this is new territory so we'll have to be patient :)
Thank you for your contributions and we're glad too that development is keeping on!
@chchwy what are you considerations here?
Is your intention to make the application more tablet compliant or to fix the tip discovering problem or both?
The former could be quite extensive I imagine and should be pushed further down the roadmap imo. We should consider what needs to be done for the application to become worthy of animating on a tablet.
First and foremost though I think we should prioritise desktop usage.
@CandyFace I will do only the toolbar in v0.6.2, it's relatively easy.
Okay, will do make it as a pull request?
Yes, will make a PR
I鈥檓 renaming this issue since the toolbar is now being tracked in #1047.
@J5lx Thanks for the edit! Actually the toolbar the OP mentions is more of a button mode toolbar for screen tablet users.
Think of a toolbar you can configure to have specific features for quick access, like Maya's button shelves or TVPaint's custom toolbars.
We could call it "quick toolbar" ourselves but this is different than the menu toolbar from the referenced issue. However I think it's the perfect time for us to open a separate issue because this getting lumped with the mentioned eraser issue was hurting the visibility of that particular requirement for screen tablet users that do not use specialized hardware for command inputs.
Thanks for pointing that out. To be honest, I find that difference to be far from obvious based on what has been written before, I feel like I still need to read very carefully to avoid confusing the two. Would you mind creating the new issue? I feel like I wouldn鈥檛 do a very good job of explaining exactly what is needed.
@J5lx Don't worry, it is a difficult to grasp feature because you need to experience it. But i'll do my best to provide proper context and explanation so any developer that wants to tackle it can work on it. Although seeing the comment history seems like @chchwy had volunteered to do that 2 years ago 馃槃 I'll tag him in the new issue so we can keep track of this later.
Thanks again!
@tclancey Hi, it's been a while. I'm sure you no longer use Pencil2D, but if possible could we trouble you to test if your Wacom Cintiq Companion still has this issue under the latest version of Pencil2D? you can download it at http://pencil2d.org/download If you don't find any issue let us know so we can close this.
Regarding point 2 It is now tracked in https://github.com/pencil2d/pencil/issues/1455
