It would be good to be able to delete my own comments.
Example: https://www.openstreetmap.org/note/1323996
IMO I should be allowed and able to delete the content that I created (falsely) – for whatever reason.
For reference I paste my email with the Data Working Group here

Subject: Re: [Ticket#2018050810000022] Delete duplicate comments
To: XDear Tobias,
Thank you for writing to the Data Working Group.
We can hide the note, but not a specific comment from it (ie, we can't hide/delete only the duplicate comments).
Although there is duplication of comments, the problem appears to be harmless.
It seems that, unfortunately, there is not much we can do here.About an option to delete your own notes, you can request this at https://github.com/openstreetmap/openstreetmap-website/issues
Is there anything else we can help you with?
Best regards,

Hi!
Please delete the duplicate comments (all but one) from https://www.openstreetmap.org/note/1323996.
There seems to be a bug in the new Maps Me-App (iOS) – I reported it already.
Please also consider adding a delete-feature so I may delete the content that I created myself.
Thank you
Tobias
The problem with this is it breaks the flow of the the thread - if other people have added comments after you then they might not make any sense if your comment is deleted.
@tomhughes that is always the issue with all threads on all platforms. It is still the right thing to do, to allow a user to own his content.
If you feel very strongly that this will be a huge issue, you could always show a "There was a comment here that was deleted" information in it's place.
Update after answer below: We are in agreement :-)
I'm not saying we can't or shouldn't do it, just that it needs some thought.
Note that for consistency we should apply this to other contexts (changeset comments, diary comments, diary entries) as well. Currently they can be hidden by administrators (unlike note comments) but not by the submitter,
Could we extend this issue also to editing? Once in a while, comments to blog posts might need some refinement, and... bummer you can’t edit them anymore.
Gasp, lulled into calmness by the big "edit" button underneath one main diary entry,
who would guess that after making a comment ha ha! there is no edit or delete button.
Just like as if we were at a magic show, and one can't find the keys to the handcuffs.
And one cannot blame the user "you were warned."
Well, then first warn the user via pop-up upon clicking the comment button:
Warning: any comments you make to this diary entry cannot be edited or deleted. [OK] [quit]
Else, you can't blame him, as all the other 9999 systems he has ever used do not have this bug.

There now is a "Edit this entry" button the original author sees, under each (main, not comments of) blog post.

Well there now is a "Edit this entry" for the main entry, but not the comments.
So I could just as well tamper with the main entry, so please let me tamper with my own comments.

This feature has been available since 2008.
Here we see that an editing accident put A's words in B's mouth, with no way to edit or delete it, no matter how well meaning the editor is.
