Openshot-qt: Please replace ..\..\ shorthand with full directories of imported files in the project file

Created on 2 Jun 2018  路  4Comments  路  Source: OpenShot/openshot-qt

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I moved my OpenShot project (along with the assets folder) to another folder and it came up with a bunch of error messages that it couldn't find some files, even though I hadn't moved them. I looked at the source code of the project files and changed the "..\..\..\" bits to the full directories (eg ..\\..\\.. to AllStuff\\Media\\library)and when I opened it again the project loaded all files without a problem.

Describe the solution you'd like
I just thought it would make it easier if there were full directories in the place of the ..\\.. so these error messages don't appear. Having files in the same folder listed as "myvideo.mp4" is fine, as long as there are no "..\.." bits. Thanks.

This is a reported issue and does indeed needs some work. Perhaps by 2.4.3 the devs could get around to fixing this...

The relative path is probably needed for portable builds (e.g. the AppImage) but you could try an absolute path first and then fall back to using a relative one if it doesn't exist, or vice versa.
