"IMG0909.mp4 is not a valid video, audio, or image file."
This is definitely strange. Works really well on my ubuntu-based machines. Can import all said files too. So far I have seen 2 fedora related reports (including this). Perhaps we need some fedora users to contribute patches to the project...
@mmistretta - Check the files in another program like a video player. Just make sure they are not corrupt.
@mmistretta - Any luck with this?
@mmistretta - Could you please try using this program to get all the information about the said videos and post it here? It will help us help you, good sir!
I have the same problem - Fedora 27, openshot-2.4.1-5.fc27. It used to work in openshot-2.4.0-3.fc25.

Works in Fedora 28 also. Seems to be a packaging problem on Fedora 27 - some codecs missing for MP4. I installed gstreamer1-plugins-bad-free, and that seems to have included the necessary codecs on F27. Maybe libde265? libmms? librtmp?
So working now in F27 also.
