1.9.2
How is this different from regular movie requests?
What I'm suggesting is an extra request button which downloads both 3D and 2D variants of the requested movie. Both variants as I like to have both copies rather than just 3D. I'm guessing others would want it to function this way as well.
The difference is in the quality profile and the category in couch potato.
For example:
Quality profile: 3D HD
Category: 3D movies.
So the quality 3D HD would look for the 3D copy of the movie and the category 3d movies would move the movie to the 3D library in your Plex server.
Using the above configuration for Couch Potato (CP) is how I go about getting my 3D movies, but the problem is first I have to download the 2D version, then I can add the 3D version to CP, as CP isn't well optimised for getting 2 copies of one film. So the way I suggest Plex Requests (PR) handles this problem is by first sending the 2D request to CP, then once PR sees the 2D version in Plex, it then sends the 3D request after a delayed period. The delay is important as CP needs enough time to move the 2D movie to the manage section, otherwise this system won't work.
The reason why I'm suggesting the 2D version to be requested first is that most of the time the 2D version of a movie is available first.
In terms of notifying users, a notification for the 2D version should be sent out first then for the 3D version of the movie.
Forgot to mention. In CP settings ->manage the 3D movies library shouldn't be added, because if it is, the 3D version of a movie will always replace the 2D copy. Also admin should have the ability to deny the 3D request alone excluding the 2D version.
Summary:
Extra button for 3D movies which downloads 3D and 2D.
Send 2D first then 3D after a small period of time.
Make sure CP is configured correctly with Quality profile, Category for 3D movies, and the manage setting.
Send 2 notifications to users regarding availability of movie versions.
Admin deny 3D version only.
Ah ok I get you. This seems to be quite a bit of work from a Plex Requests
point of view as we need to keep track of everything.
I'll add this as a possible feature and if it gets enough requests then
i'll think about adding it, but the approval with dropdown can be a
workaround with this?

Please elaborate. Don't quit understand what you mean.
Sorry just understood what you meant. Yes for now drop down approval for 3D would be awesome.
Well the dropdown will be from your quality profiles, so it should be there

ow ok. The main problem with that is the category can't be specified. I have a different library for 3D movies. Even with the category specified it would be much easier to just add the 3D movie manually.
Ah ok. Hmmm. I'll label it as a possible feature.
I discussed this idea with @tidusjar but unfortunately we don't going to implementation this one.
Maybe in the feature.
Feel free to do more request with nice idea's!
